I use ours with three sides--front, back and one side. Works very well

Which tool removes the tires ?(to place cart more flatly for store?)

Probably just a pair of pliers to straighten the cotter pin in order to pull it out. I would have extra cotter pins on hand in case any break though since they are metal and being bent back and forth will weaken them.
