Terrific golf book
For anyone interested in the famed golfers in the world this book certainly is one of the best. Seve was certainly a genius and his story is told very well by the author. His golf exploits are well documented but this book provides much more depth and insight into this man. It I a always a challenge to anyone that is leading the charge to improve things within his environment. To get things changed requires a certainly personality and perseverance. Seve did not back down on any of his causes which may appear to be somewhat self serving but in the end was for the overall betterment of the European Tour. Seve has been the inspiration for the success the European Tour has had over the last so many years and in particular the Euro's performance in the Ryder Cup. Seve certainly knew he was a genius and was not shy to let anyone know. A great read.

flawed genius
I am a little to young to have witnessed Seve first hand as a force in golf, but have relied on hearing the stories of the legend. Wanting to know more about Seve i read this biography not sure knowing what i had coming, and i wasn't let down.An excellent book about the legend that is Seve, with all his bravour and flaws.

Good read
The book really brings out the greatness and the struggles of Seve and at times was very riveting. Although overall I really liked the book at times it was too detailed about some of the golf matches and there were quite a few syntactical errors probably caused by it's conversion to digital.

Fight through the early chapters
The early chapters were a little heavy on the hole by hole descriptive but once past all that the real Seve emerged in the chapters on his life, relationships and sad final days. Shame the author uses words us mere mortals have seldom heard of.....a sign of a public school background? Overall a good read on a legend of the sport.

Really enjoyed this book..
Well written, warts and all. Just a shame he couldn't keep the magic going, and then to battle and lose the fight to cancer. Lovely to read all the exploits on and off the course....

Another side of Seve
We don't always know what goes on behind the scenes. Very objective book, would like to have seen more of his personal life though.

I good insight into a golfing great
I read this as a follow up to reading Seve’s autobiography which I had not really enjoyed. I was looking for some balance to the autobiography which I felt read as a self centred whinge. I wanted to see whether I was missing something about Seve but seemingly not! For sure, if you are looking for a single book about Seve then this is the one to choose. The author was close to Seve, indeed commissioned to write a biography by the great man who then lost interest in the project. This book is a “warts and all” evaluation. “Flawed genius” seems absolutely appropriate and if you want to appreciate those flaws then the autobiography highlights them.

Disappointing
I was looking forward to reading this book but I gave up after reading about 25%It seemed to focus on details of the various shots played on various courses. I was hoping to hear more about the personality of Seve. When you have played golf and you return to the clubhouse some golfers will tell you a stroke by stroke analysis of their round. If you enjoy hearing this you will enjoy reading this book. If not wait for another biography.I anticipated that it would contain details of the thoughts of other professional golfers about Seve but it only touches on this. With the amount that I read it covers virtually nothing about his private life or his personal experiences. It may cover this in the latter stages but unfortunately I decided to give up as it just seemed to give great detail of a shot by shot description on various courses. It does not follow a chronological description of this great golfer but simply seem to covers his golf shots. I tried to skip a few pages but again it was concentrating on the detail of the shots that he played in various competitions. If this is want you want to read then buy this book. It is well written but I found it boring. I can understand that some people will find it fascinating as they will want a shot by shot analysis but I found it very dull and slightly repetitive,I was personally very disappointed as it was not the type of book that I expected.

The Main Man
I just think that the initial impetus given by Tony Jacklin was substantially re-inforced following the arrival of Seve.My first recollection of him was in the 1976 open where another hero of mine, Johnny Mille ,went head to head (my duel in the sun) with him. In summary Seve was mean, moody, sometimes nasty, predictably unpredictable. He possessed charisma in spades, but above all that he was a winner. He gave CPR to the Ryder Cup, which at the time was barely breathing to make it "The greatest show on earth" which it is today.RIP

If you loved Seve then read this
Having read every book on The King of European golf this was a book that I somehow missed. It brought back fond memories of my hero a great golfer and champion who inspired so many. Even though like other people who reviewed this book and found much of the tedious shot detail at times boring it recollected shots which I'd seen both at tournaments and on tv which I had long since forgotten.Long may Seve's life be celebrated. A must read if you are a fan of one of the all time masters.Highly recommended.

Disappointing. A poorly ordered mixture of statistics and little insight.
The first part consisted of a stream of places, dates and statistics which jumped around in time. The second part started to reveal something of the man but again didn't follow any chronological order. I read it to the end as much out of hope and stubbornness as of enjoyment and enlightenment. I don't feel that I know much more about the man than I did before I read the book. I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it against the many many biographies I have read of other sportsmen.
