For the price there are no complaints to be had. It performed like I wanted it to. I abused the hell out of it with continuous run times of over an hour. Motor got hot but didn't care. Bag doesn't collect much and seems to work better without bag attached. Light weight and I can see this lasting several seasons. Would recommend.

Contrary to the negative remarks about this product, and frankly others as well, it does an excellent job at what it was designed for detaching and aerating. This IS NOT a lawnmower.To properly utilize this tool it is necessary to prep the area first by mowing the grass at the mowers lowest setting. The large bag holds little more half of the amount of detritus an average size mower bag will hold, but is sufficient to the size of this product.In short, this is the best value for money of inexpensive dethatcher/scarifiers on the market.

Purchased this to dethatch my zoysia front lawn. Overall it did a good job and exceeded my expectations. Like some reviewers, I found that there wasn’t enough power to push the clippings to the rear of the bag and they tended to accumulate underneath. You can see this in the second photo as there were clumps of clippings left at the end of a row. The bag fills quickly but I felt it was still worth using despite there being a fair amount of clippings left behind. The yard is 15 years old and had never been dethatched, but had been aerated a few times. Zoysia is notorious for thatch buildup so I wanted to clean it up, was not surprised how much thatch came up.Unlike some competitors, I did not experience any issues with the motor overheating or have a need to purchase an expensive heavy gauge (12 awg) extension cord. I was able to cover my yard using one or two 50’ medium duty cords that I already had (14 awg).The owners manual is poor. The directions for assembling the handle were vague and didn’t show the details of how the handles should be placed or mounted, but I figured it out. The directions to change the blade were completely wrong, mentioned removing two screws when there is only one hex head bolt that needs to be loosened.I also used the machine to rough up some areas in my fescue back yard and remove some ground moss prior to overseeding. The dethatching drum was adequate for this task. I didn’t try the scarifying drum. It appears to be more for bare ground or perhaps a garden bed that needs to be broken up, the tines are similar to what you would find on a garden tiller but perhaps a bit shorter.The machine is light and easy to handle. The spinning drum provides sort of a self propelled effect which helps the unit move along and I didn’t have to struggle to get it up hills.Overall a good choice for light to medium duty DIY homeowner use once or twice a year. I have been wanting to dethatch for some time but renting a heavy machine is not practical for me, nor is paying a yard service to do it- if you can find one at all it’s pricey. This machine will do the task year after year at a cost the same or less than renting a machine or hiring it out. One caveat- the cutting swath is only about 14” so if you have a large yard, it could take a while.

Excellent purchase, my yard had not been power raked for five years. Set the machine on the second highest setting and it did the job perfect. Be sure to mow your lawn before you power rake. And cut the grass pretty short. The machine is just great. Only downside is the bag is small and even then you can’t fill it up full. Once it’s half full you can take it off and shake the grass to the back of the bag or just dump it. I have a golf cart that I pull a little dump trailer behind and it came in extremely handy.

The collection bag is so small that you have to empty it about every 4 to 5 minutes. I still found it more efficient to just rake up the grass. It is somewhat lightweight but is still heavy. There are lots of dos and don'ts to remember. Very important to read the manual.

The media could not be loaded.  I old electric dethatcher gave out, and not much of the springs left on the blade either, where I found this one, really nice specs, and really liked the look of it and gave it a try. I was not dissapointed, this one works great. It is very consistant on dethatching, it takes very little good grass and removes all the loose and dead grass too. My other one did not have a bag where this one does, and really is nice where I don't have to rake afterwards saving me a lot of time, practically cutting my job in half. The dethatching blade is one of the highest quality I have ever seen. This one is made solid, has a good number of quality springs that don't come off either. I also like how easy it is to remove, and it goes with a really nice aerator blade and it is as good a quality as well. Very light for and easy to store, where the handles easily fold down when not in use. Hard to show how nice this one is in pictures, where I did a video to show how nice this one really is. No cons, works great where I am very happy with the purchase.

This product never started. I’ve been unable to use it.

I've only used this a couple times so far, but it was very easy to use and does a great job. I would imagine this to be a small to medium sized household use only. Would not suffice for commercial or giant lawns.

This machine is very easy to use and did a great job on our lawn. I got 17 bags of thatch. My lawn looks so nice , I highly recommend…

Did a great job. However I do wish there was a smaller attachment for the areas it couldn’t reach, without buying another tool or ignoring that area, or we may have to manually do it. Something hopefully the company can include for a bit more to life a bit more easier.

It was pretty easy to put together, but the instructions weren’t the best. Not a big deal.Saved me hours of work just with spring raking. After using a regular rake and another rake for dethatching I would never do it by hand again. Emptying the bag every minute or two is very satisfying.
