A fast-paced, character-driven adventure through space.
Oath of Vengeance is an exciting sequel that manages to build on the unique appeal of the first book without simply duplicating it, or worse yet, losing itself somewhere along the way.Brad Madrid is a successful mercenary captain still scarred by the murder of his loved ones. Life has continued to move on since that point, but despite his successes, vengeance is still one of his ultimate goals. Or perhaps they're not separate points; his goal fuels his efforts as a top-ranked mercenary. The sequel takes place after he's established his bona fides as a mercenary and is offered a mission with major political implications. Thankfully, he and his company are up to the task and they give chase.Interestingly, the story seems to expand beyond the expected limits of its genre. Yes, it's military sci-fi. But it's also more; as the characters track down their mission objective, there's a sense of adventure with elements of crime and mystery fiction to it as well. All of which ties together. If you're a fan of Terry Mixon's other works, particularly Storm Divers, you'll see the similarities.Co-authored books are tricky things. It's easy for authors to stumble over each other, accidentally overpower one another at various points in the book, or turn out something that seems muddy at best. For self-published authors, that's even more of a risk. Especially when you have two well-known authors who have strong, well-developed voices and writing styles that their fans are already familiar with.Oath of Vengeance avoids that pitfall entirely, somehow managing to preserve the voices of each author in a synthesis that blurs the line between the two. Which sentence was Glynn's? Which was Terry's? Despite being a fan of both authors, I can't tell. And that's the goal for this kind of collaboration. It takes the best of both authors and fuses them together in a way that makes perfect sense.A large part of that is the book's skillful editing. The plot is fast-paced, as is common with both author's works, with very little in the way of extraneous information that gets in the way of the plot's advancement. As a result, it reads very quickly even though it's not a short book. Characters are well-developed, with realistic interactions throughout. Common mistakes, typos, and other artifacts were caught in editing, and the result is a highly polished example of the best of self-publishing.I heartily recommend reading Oath of Vengeance. As an aside, I've helped Terry out as a beta reader in the past. I also received an early copy of this book in exchange for a review. Despite that, having so thoroughly enjoyed the book, I wound up purchasing a copy of it. While that might represent a potential bias, I did my best to avoid letting it influence my opinion. If I didn't like the book, I'd say so.

More fun for Brad Madrid!
Brad gets to duel his nemesis - twice!Another fun book from Glynn & Terry. Brad doesn't come off as *quite* the Gary Stu that he was in the first book. The writing is OK, the story-telling is great - I contrived to *not* loose a night's sleep by waiting to start in until a weekend afternoon, when I had time to finish it before bedtime. As has been the case in the past, I have just bought a copy, to support Glynn & Terry so that they'll be able to write more books!I received a free advance copy in return for an honest review.

Plrnty of war tp go around.
The cost of revenge is high. But Brad is prepared to exact and pay it. Great action. Inteteresting character development. The science in sci-fi. Enjoying the series.

As god as the first one in the series.
Oath of Vengeance do, not surprisingly, take off after the ending in the first book but it does fast forward a couple of years. Brad is now firmly in his role as a mercenary captain and has advanced his company, The Vikings, to be a âplatinumâ mercenary company. At the start of the book he is on a mission to kick some pirate arse.I liked this book as much as the first one. It is roller coaster ride of not only well done action by also plot development and character development. Brad continues to grow both his company and himself. He and his friends are indeed very likable kick-ass characters. As the plot thickens Brad encounters his nemesis, the Terror, again but it also becomes clear that there is more going on than just bunch of pirates and the Terror is just one part of the puzzle.Even though the combat action is well done these books are more action and adventure books than pure military science fiction. As such the story, and the hero in particular, does get away with some Indiana Jones style actions and strategy that could be considered somewhat unrealistic. If you take the book for what it is it probably will not bother you. At least it did not bother me.I am definitely looking forward to read the next one/

Big ships, big weapons, big bangs
So, itâs a few years down the track from book 1, and the MC is still hunting for the pirates to take vengeance upon them. His path for vengeance continues as he finds more persons in power working for the Cadre and proceeds to kill them.A twist at the end, well, a twist with a reasonable escape clause really, but this will make it interesting for book 3

An Oath made, an Oath kept
There's a huge statement to make when the Common Wealth and the Fleets even willing to stand aside to let a Vigelantee known as Brad Madrid to hunt down the Terror by any means necesary. BUt of course no rest for the wicked in the end, huh?Brad and his crew of the Viking Mer group once again emerge victorious with a price to pay in blood and then some.Glynn and Terry has done an amazing job with this. Even noticed a few hints about the whole Olympus Mon and runes that is supposed to belong to another serie. Bu hey, what do I know. I'm just an avid reader. lol

Buy it, Read it :-)
I'm a big fan of the other series by Glynn Stewart, e.g. the Starship's Mage and ONSET series. The Oath of Vengeance is the second book in the Vigilante series co-authored with Terry Mixon. I can say I really enjoyed the story, the book has enough detail to describe the characters and situations but the story flows at a good pace and kept me reading. This was a good concluding story to the duology and I would definitely recommend it (but read Heart of Vengeance first đ).Note: I received a free electronic copy in exchange for an unbiased review (but liked it enough to buy a copy anyway)

Klare Leseempfehlung

The solar system is not small
A rousing romp through the solar system with a touch of romance and a lot of action. The series storyline is developing nicely. Looking forward to see where the vikings get up to next.

Fast paced adventure that doesnât let up. Not quite as good as Stewartâs books on his own, yet enjoyable enough that Iâm looking forward to the following trilogy.
