Practical, portable board which will inspire the imagination for years to come
After a thorough search online, we bought this blackboard for my son, who has just turned three, for Christmas. Over the last month, we have used the board and have come to the conclusion that it's an excellent product and well worth the money. The features that we like best about the product are : - it's a great size for a smaller child who can't reach a large easel - it's lightweight and extremely portable, so we could take it to grandparents house etc - we comfortably play with it on the floor, at my sons level, which research has shown is beneficial to children - love the fact that both sides are magnetic & he can use chalks or dry wipe markers - it takes a minute to set up and we didn't have any problems with the removal of the plastic on the blackboard, which other reviews experienced You can easily remove the board from the frame and my son likes to use it on his knee - it comes with a good range of magnets. You get the letters, numbers and shapes - the drawstring bag is really useful to put the magnets in. As our little boy is obsessed with animals, he loves the magnetic letters and has taken much more of an interest in them for that reason. The magnets are colourful, but I would like to suggest the following minor improvements to the manufacturer. I think the darker colour letters are more eye catching and it's easier to distinguish between the shape of the letters and the animals. Therefore, I would not use the pastel colour for the letters. Two letters (n & z) do not have animals on them. My son found this confusing, so can I suggest using narwhal, nightingale or x-ray fish off the top of my head. Also, for an additional charge, I think it would be great if you expanded the range of shapes to include eg stars, hearts, octagon etc. Overall, I highly recommend this item. I think whole family will use it for many years to come.

Very happy with the buy
I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday. Overall, I must say I would highly recommend this to everybody even though there are minor negative points too. Pros: 1. Good educational toy to develop child's knowledge and skills (and to keep them occupied too!!) 2. The wooden easel is very sturdy and has a good finish 3. All magnetic shapes, letters and numbers are of very good quality 4. Set of picture cards are very helpful providing creative ideas. 5. Easy to handle due to the just enough size and weight of the easel. my child can carry it wherever he wants 6. Easy storage : easel - foldable each set (shapes, letters & numbers, Chalk eraser & marker) - comes in a separate resealable bag and all these bags can be securely stored in the draw string bag included in this product Cons: Toys of wood oxford, your attention please!!!! 1. Letters would have been better without the pictures incorporated in it.Pictures distort the unique shape of a letter confusing children. 2. Chalkboard comes off the frame easily. I struggled a lot to insert it back when it came off with the sticker covering its surface 3. Suggest to fix something like rubber bushes on the bottom of each leg of easel because it slides backwards when you try to write with chalk or marker pen. However, we use keeping it on the carpet next to a wall!

A well made and classic toy
A well made and classic toy. My toddler really enjoys playing with this, although, when unsupervised, the magnetic numbers and letters do tend to end up getting launched around the room - still, that's a perfectly valid way to play with it ;) The easel is really nice, with three positions, and the board can be flipped so that you have a classic blackboard (well, green actually) and a white board. The chalk is thin and hence breaks up too easily, but, since you'll be buying chalk on an ongoing basis, this is a minor issue. The whiteboard markers have not been used yet, since DS is not even 2 yet, so would only write on the walls with them. He'll "grow into" this toy, so that's not an issue. The only real minus point is that the letters are a bit too fancy, incorporating pictures of things starting with that letter (so "i" has an iguana coiled around it). This makes them much less legible, and some of the things chosen to go with the letter are not everyday things, so that seems a little abstract (e.g. surely there would have been a better choice for "i" than iguana?). However, sets of magnetic letters are readily available, so we can easily get something more suitable for now, and when he's older he'll pick up on the subtlety of the letters/things that were included here. The numbers, on the other hand, are perfect - bold colours, simple font - exactly as you'd expect in an early learning educational toy.

Fun, practical and multifunctional!
A really lovely product which my two and a half year old son is just delighted with. Love that it multi tasks as a white board, chalk board, easel and magnetic board. Sturdily built and perfect size, easy to pack away. Love the magnetic shapes and have had lots of fun making all the pictures out of them with the handy little cards! Great for teaching shapes, relative sizes and colours. Perfect for rainy days during lockdown. I dare say my nanny agrees! Thank you for all the thought put into it!

Inconsistent but fine for the money
Many of the prints are not centrally aligned, and one of the magnets was missing (1 of 72) but otherwise our daughter loves playing with these.

Sturdy, strong, attractive and educational easel for learning and play
A great educational product: the frame is made of durable and attractive wood, and is sturdy; the double-sided board (one side magnetic and for the pen, the other for chalk) is also really sturdy and strong and able to stand up to a bit of toddler abuse (not that my son would dare!)! (A prior review mentions that the board is "week" (sic): firstly, never trust anyone who can't spell the word weak, and secondly, I understand that the item has since been revised, and criticised elements have been put right.) Also included are a pen and eraser; a pack of chalks; and a batch of letters, numbers and shapes. These are all colourful, clear, attractive and strong - the shapes pleasingly chunky and substantial. I also love the little draw-string blue bag for storing all these in - a really thoughtful touch. My son has previously been bought a similar product (magnetic board with shapes and letters etc.), but I have to say that this product is far superior in terms of quality.

A good quality, straightforward, enjoyable toy.
We got this as a 2nd birthday present for our daughter. It's a lovely, good quality, simple and effective product. It comes with some simple little magnets and little chalks (that break quite easily in 2-year-old hands but are quite usable!), and a little chalk rubber (as well as the whiteboard pen, which we haven't released into said 2-year-old's hands yet...). The only very slight quibble I would have is that you have to take the board out and put it back in to turn it round - we didn't think of checking that by looking at the picture first. This doesn't really bother her at the moment though as she prefers the blackboard most of the time, and it's really easy for us to turn round if she asks. It's really good on a little tabletop and has already paid for itself in the amount of time she spends having a good scribble on it!

A few niggles
Beautifully made and fantastic for creative play activities. My toddler really loves this toy. The letters are a bit of a downside. As noted by other reviews the graphic design of them, intertwined with animal pictures, makes them quite difficult to make out which is exactly what you DON'T want with a young child who is learning. The letters are also a three part construction: a magnetic back, a middle filler piece and a front piece. Several front pieces arrived broken, part of the front piece having cracked and fallen away from the rest of the letter. This left some sharp little bits that had fallen away that I had to be careful to remove. They were easy enough to repair with a bit of glue, but a few have since come away again so I have to keep a careful eye on the condition on them. Unfortunate as the rest of the set is fantastic, robust, and well worth it.
