Very solid tip and also rolls very smoothly.

In the colder months, these tips last about 3 months, but in hot weather, the longevity reduces to 2 months due to melting. I found that the 22mm non-rolling ceramic tip by Ambutech lasts longer than their disc roller and certainly their hollow ball roller that only lasts 1 month before splitting. Despite it being designed for tapping and not constant contact, the ceramic tip can still be used as if it rolls without much noticeable erosion in 2 month's time. Speed bumps and other smooth changes in sidewalks and roads are not very easy to detect with the disc roller, but are with the small ceramic tip. I recently bought some marshmallow roller tips but haven't tested them yet, but I'll know soon how they compare.I contacted a couple of advanced ceramics manufacturers last year in the hopes of making alumina oxide the standard for cane tips. With that material being relatively cheap, stronger than steel, and only vulnerable to strong acids and bases, I don't know where the cons would be to outweigh the pros. While such a tip might cost $50 to $75, it would never have to be replaced under ordinary use.

I ordered this so my husband would have an emergency back-up. It is exactly the same as what it will replace.
