Just plug it and it works. I'm using it with my Sony TV running Android TV.* Air mouse feels smooth.* Build quality is decent for the price.* Enough buttons to navigate menus.* Was able to program the IR power button from the TV remote.Hard to complain with the price, but I wish the shape of the remote was a bit sculpted to make it nicer to handle and be less wobbly when on the table. I also wish there were a few extra "custom" button that can be programed to launch apps. You may want to install a third party virtual keyboard on Android TV as the default Gboard will not show up when you have a physical keyboard connected.

this little remote is a great replacement for the shieldi read the other reviews on this page and was convinced to buy it for my shield as my remote broke, the battery compartment where you snap the little cell batteries just stopped locking the batteries in and the remote stopped workingso i received this remote and plugged it and it just works, the volume buttons are a great thing compared to the old volume slider, its very light and very clicky with the buttonsbut for $20 it does the job really well and its much cheaper than any branded alternatives, so if you don't want to pay $50-$100 for a branded replacement give this a try

Stopped working after one month only

I bought this for my Shield TV Pro because the one I purchased only came with a controller. At first, that was fine, but eventually I consolidated that device into my home entertainment system and controlled the whole thing with a Logitech Harmony Hub. This made controlling the Shield TV simple, with either a standard remote, or my smartphone. In moving things around after various upgrades, the Shield TV now resides in my office/gaming room. That room does not have nor need a Smart Hub, so I'm settling for an old Logitech 550 to control that system. I'm not sure if this remote would be in the Logitech 550's database, given how old it is, so I can't tell you if you just need the dongle and can get rid of the remote, but if I end up finding out that is the case, I'll update my review and let you know. That would be the ideal solution. However, the remote is certainly fine to use, with a solid, well-constructed feel and firm, tactile button presses. That being said, the price difference between these two remotes is large, and my Logitech 550s, while not operating without some issue, are still perfectly usable after well over a decade. Also, that's two extra batteries I don't end up having to swap every year or so. But minor annoyances aside, the product itself is a good one that should work well alongside whatever remote controlled device you're using it with.

I'm extremely happy with this remote.Plugged in USB,tested remote mic wasn't working which needed my shield to reboot.After reboot all features worked perfectly without having to change anything manually.Only reason not giving 5 stars is because on screen keyboard doesn't work with this remote.Any one looking for solution please read this as I manage to make it work by third party app.All you need to do is download Lean pro keyboard free app from Play store on shield 2019 and set this keyboard as default on screen keyboard.This works just like original keyboard for me.I have tried button mapper and some other alternative changes to make this work which didn't have any success.So try this app it'll help
