Gotta know about bagpipes, or have friends who do. A self assemble kit.
No bagpipe is for a beginner. No way. This is a "kit" that needs assembly and about 10 hours of adjustment and tweaking/tuning. Not for the faint of heart, or beginner. That said, no bagpipe is a "play out the box" instrument. Good points for this instrument- they included both synthetic and cane reeds. The pipes are strung with hemp and are a decent fit. It has a hard case and an extra stopvalve, and a big roll of hemp joint string. There is a basic instruction manual/brochure. The sheer physical effort of you marching down the street and blowing this thing will knock the pounds off your butt, and do wonders for your aerobic activities. You will learn about deep breathing and what a real lung full of air is. You will find aching muscles under your arm and pains in your face, that you never knew about. Bear in mind, this is not criticism of the product, the instrument is what it is, is loud as heck, takes more wind than you have, and will scare the crap out of people late at night. It is what it is... as it was designed to do, many, many years ago.All that said, this is an inexpensive instrument to get going with, or an inexpensive one to add to the arsenal. So, you should be experienced in performing/maintaining pipes...... or a glutton for unusual punishment. Give it a go, laddy!

Un-Playable Pipes
This product does not come with clear directions. It said to insert reeds but not where they go. Mine was manufactured so poorly that the reeds won't even fit. I found a YouTube video where a professional piper tried to get this same set to work and was unsuccessful. Basically, this product blows and not in a good way.

IF YOU WANT TO LEARN BAGPIPES, STAY AWAY FROM AMAZON!
I’ve been a piper for 25 years. I hate seeing new people get discouraged and ripped off by thinking these are real instruments. They 100% are not! Go to a reputable bagpipe store and buy a bagpipe that lasts a lifetime. To say these are garbage is putting it mildly. Real pipes are made in Scotland, not Pakistan.

Don’t do it
These are poor quality immigrations…… poor quality, poor workmanship……. They do not play, they cannot be properly tuned….. you WILL be very unhappy buying these second rate pipes…… even for a beginner, these are a waste of time and money
