Those with elderly or limited-mobility dogs know how difficult it can be to see their pet struggling with things that once came easy to them, like ascending the stairs or hopping up onto the bed. Did the job
Pros- I was able to help my lab up and down the stairs post op.Cons- I had to shorten the strap so that I could put it over my shoulder to lift him.

It serves the purpose, but with one flaw...
My 55 pound senior dog has hind quarter weakness due to Cushing's Disease and we have to go up/down a flight of stairs to enter/exit our home. I was very concerned about her falling down the stairs and she often has difficulty climbing them. Carrying her is not a viable option - so I began using her regular nylon walking harness like a "suitcase handle" to assist her. This was not ideal as the harness cut into her chest and under her front legs. I then purchased a "sling" for the task. While a good idea - it always slid from her midsection to under her hips while going down the stairs, which was rather dangerous as there was no support for the rest of her body.I finally tried the Guardian Gear harness - and it does the job. The item comes with 2 pieces - the harness, and a rear support pad with a leash/tether attached to it. I have not used the rear support pad with the leash, but the harness is adequately padded underneath (chest) and lends great support for her body while ascending/descending the stairs. I grab the top of the harness like a suitcase handle and off we go without the fear of her falling up/down the stairs. Outside, I let the "handle" go and she can romp unencumbered. The only drawback I have encountered so far, is that the padded (chest) portion of the harness just does not lay flat up against the dog when the dog is in a "sit" position. This causes a "gap" or droop in the harness so if she lifts her paw for an under arm scratch - it very often ends up inside the chest portion of the harness when she puts the paw down. I have tried re-adjusting the harness and it is nice and snug when standing, but it still gaps while sitting. This could be a result of my dog's particular body structure (she's a squat/short/ thick-necked pit bull built like a boat anchor), or an inherent flaw in the design. In any event, it is still the best support harness I have found thus far. It does the job, and I am generally pleased with it. By the way - Amazon had the best price for the harness I could find online.

Then 3 weeks ago her arthritis in her front 2 shoulders got so bad that she couldn't hold herself up with her front ...
This product has given my dog her life back. She is a 12 yr old black lab who has 2 torn acl s in her back knees which makes her very unstable and can sometimes get up but then will flop because she has no support in the back legs. She also has a fused spine from severe arthritis and has the same arthritis in her front and back legs and paws. My vet said it is a miracle she can even walk. So about one month ago she tore her second acl in the left leg(the right one tore months ago). So at first I just used a scarf under her hips to help her up stairs and to walk her outside and to her food and water bowls. Then 3 weeks ago her arthritis in her front 2 shoulders got so bad that she couldn't hold herself up with her front legs. The problem is that though she couldn't hold herself up to walk she still was playing and eating and interacting with us. Our last dog we put down when she couldn't use her back legs and I didn't want to have to do that again especially since she is so playful still. So I found this body sling and ordered it. I took the advice of the other reviews that said that they run big so I ordered the medium even though Molly weighs 55 pounds. It fits her perfectly and since I have been using it outside Molly has been gaining muscle strength since I use the body sling but have her bear as much weight as she can so she doesn't lose muscle mass. Now she can pull herself up inside the house with minimal help. Outside since she knows she has the support she takes off walking, tracking other dogs and animals. She doesn't go real far but it has given me the ability to still walk her and she still loves the outside. You can't beat this product for comfort and ease of use. I can put it on her in about 45 sec and we are off. Can't recommend this product more highly. And the price is a winner too!

5 Star harness!
This is a wonderful harness! My Sophie, a 75# German Shepard/Husky mix, came down with vestibular ataxia/neuritis overnight. This is like the most severe vertigo! The harness was really instrumental in my being able to get her down a few steps for her to do her business and to walk her, She was so wobbly and lilted strongly to the left and she was weak too. The harness enabled me to keep her upright without wrenching my back and to keep her walking straight. I only needed the top piece because her back legs are ok. SIZING CAUTION: I ordered a 2XL because the manufacturer's website said order 1 size up for weight. (The XL is supposed to be for up to 65#) The 2XL was WAY too big for her, even with all straps tightened all the way. So I returned that one and got the XL which fits her perfectly! And she loves it! She never liked her collar but put up with it to go walking. The harness gives her freedom of movement yet I feel more in control of her physically. I'm going to use it all the time now - no more collars. Oh, one other thing: because she is tall, I do not really need the long lead that comes with it at this time (though its great for when she does not need help anymore and can walk the length of it ahead of me). So I took a short strap and used a carabiner to connect it to the top triangular 'ring'. Sometimes I just hold the center strap on the harness itself. It all works. I am very happy with this harness.

Good product
I bought this to use with my dog wheelchair we are making from scratch ourselves and so I’m unable to say how good it works as I am not using it for how it’s supposed to be use but it’s very high quality material and it seems very durable too so I would recommend it and I will be using part of it on his wheelchair!

Would give this no stars
Appalling. I have a Samoyed, who is a medium sized dog - about the size of a Collie. I ordered the largest size and the front piece didn't go anywhere near her, even at maximum setting. Managed to get the rear piece on her but this was so clumsy and awkward, she ended up getting quite distressed. Obviously couldn't use it as a combi piece but, even if I had, it would have been so clumsy to use it would have been impossible. Absolute rubbish. I returned it and was quizzed about her girth and was given all sorts of excuses. I had to pay the postage for both delivery and return and they wouldn't refund it. An expensive lesson. Won't be using this merchant or any of its merchandise again. Was also quite disappointed that Amazon did little to help. Total waste of time and money.

Excellent Piece of Gear
Love this - it has really saved me. My 110 pound Great Pyr tore the ligaments in one knee and then the day before her operation tore them in her other knee, so for a while the harness and I have been acting as her back legs. Now, after 2 operations, she's getting better, and for the most part I can leave the front 'bib' off and just use the hip support to get her up and down the ramp into the house. I use both parts to get her up the ramp into the car when we go for her laser therapy, but that's the great thing about this - you can use one or both parts as required.

Dog lift/sling
This nylon lift and sling is complicated to use and the sling part too narrow. The plastic clips to secure the sling can break easily if you are not careful.

I reordered a XL and that one is perfect. Very happy with this purchase
The XXL was too big for my dog so I returned it with no problem. I reordered a XL and that one is perfect. Very happy with this purchase.
