Headphone amp only works when a cable is plugged into the 1/4" socket
I'm a frequent business traveler, and having just received this today, I can say that this is a great guitar that is well-balanced and feels enough like a real guitar that it will be a fantastic travel companion. My only gripe (and why I gave it only 4 stars) is that I spent all day trying to figure out how to get the headphone amp to work, because nowhere in the packaging or on the website (as far as I could find) did it mention that it ONLY works if you have a cable plugged in to the 1/4" socket. The only reason I figured it out is that I decided to plug it into my amp to see if all the knobs and switches worked, and while I was doing that I decided to plug in the headphones just to see. I almost returned it!So - I am not going to be bringing an amp with me on the road, so I now have to bring a mini-1/4" cable with me (the short kind you connect pedals with on a pedalboard), which just dangles from the guitar, so I can use the headphones. It's not a big deal, but I sure wish they mentioned it somewhere, because, to me, it makes no sense that I should have to have a 1/4" amp cable plugged in when I want to listen through headphones.I hope this saves you some time and anguish!

Highly recommend!
Literally the best thing I have purchased in years- travels like a dream, no "mini guitar" feeling, and I use with tablet to practice and complete video lessons while on the road. Have been stopped many times in airport and for once am happy to discuss and whole heartedly recommend!

Great guitar, shoddy electronics
I sit waiting for 3 hours at an airport gate thinking great time to quietly play . And I want to play through my own headphones via the 1/8 jack and it flat out doesn’t work and neither does the auxiliary input. It’s frustrating!!!! I have had this guitar for 2 year and always play with the 1/4 in jack hooked up to a small amp, but the amp is in the cargo hold now, no go there. So out of the box these 1/8 inputs didn’t work well — sometimes yes for a few minutes then sometimes no. Patchy. I corresponded with the company traveler and their response “as long as it works once in a while as far as we are concerned your guitar is fine” and no offer was made to fix, replace etc... whatever... I can live without that feature. But when you pay for something new you expect at least up front that ALL aspects and features work and when they don’t YOU-I’m talking to you traveler guitar- Take Responsibility. Without this glitch I’d give it 5 stars, but since it doesn’t work and I have all this time at the gate... well that’s Karma cuz now I have the time to write this negative review and warn others and hopefully nudge traveler to do a better job of wiring and inspection checking before they offer the axe to the public.

This Guitar looks, plays and sounds awesome
Come this December I will have completed 50 years of playing guitar. Along the way I have collected quite a few. My primary is a Les Paul Standard, I love my Gretsch, and Stratocaster. I needed a guitar to travel as I will be taking some trips to see an old friend that I used to play and record with. I did a lot of research and decided to settle on a Traveler Guitar. But which one? I like the features on the Hot Rod Speedster so I selected that one. Next up was color, black looked great, I thought the blue with the dice knobs would be collectible, but I decided to go with the Candy Apple Red as it is the same color as the Strat my buddy had. Needless to say my guitars name is Wayne - I name them all as a personal thing. Guitar promptly came and was a beautiful. Played great, neck feels exactly like my 1978 Les Paul. Liked the 4 different tones, very flexible sound. Sounded great through my portable amp, but the real test is I played it through my larger rig at rehearsal last night - I play Classic Rock. 1972 silver faced Fender Twin, with a 4X12 Fender sub connected with a ZMatcher. The sound was over the top, sustain was awesome. I could not be more pleased. So far, I would rate this guitars quality equal to my Les Paul, and I am in to details as I work in the field of Quality Assurance. Love mine, if you are looking at this, you are interested - do it. I am thinking you will be happy.

Traveler Speedster Hotrod V2: So portable and so playable
This was my first Traveler guitar. I got it for the portability and the ability to play quietly but with headphones or earbuds in so I could hear the guitar and its effects. It did take a little getting used to when it came to holding the guitar. It IS radically different from the other electric guitars I own, but that's the point isn't it? First, the neck is full absolutely awesome. It's full size, the action is just right, and it feels good. It also sounds good without an amp. I use it sitting on the couch just to practice with; not plugged in just playing and it sounds good. How crazy is that? I love the effects and the split coil. You can go from serious heavy distortion to clean single coil sound in two seconds by pushing the mode knob and flicking the split coil switch. Very nice. I have already traveled with it and decided that I wanted a little sturdier case for it for airplanes - so I made one. Pictures included. I've used it to record and it does very well and sounds really good in the mix. I'm impressed. I wouldn't have thought anyone could put together such a nice guitar this size and make it so playable. Hats off to Traveler.

It's even better than I had hoped!
I bought this for the sole purpose of traveling with it in my trips for work. BUT I love playing it so much that it often is the one I grab before my Fender Stratocaster. It's fun to play and I love the flexibility of the built-in amp. The full-size fretboard was one of the main reasons for my purchase but it's small size and portability make it easy to take with me anywhere I go.The guitar fits well even for me (I'm well over 6') and I'm very pleased with the build quality and durability at this point. I've had it now for a couple of months and it has flown with me on three trips and gone through airport security without any issue at all.I would certainly recommend this guitar for anyone who travels (or not!) and wants a great sounding and fun guitar to play while away from home. I'm sitting in a hotel right at this moment and the Speedster is sitting a few feet away. It's within easy reach and I pick it up often to break up the "on the road" trips.Enjoy!
