Malcayang 5 Speed Shift Knob Boot Kit for Golf 5 6 MK5 MK6 R32 GTD GTI 2004-2009 Scirocco Octavia

I ordered this replacement shifter for my 2013 VW Jetta Sportwagen. The plastic trim is a good fit but I ran into the same issue as many others - the shifter boot is unnecessarily long.Since I didn't want to have all of the excess material I disassembled the piece, removing the boot part from the outside plastic trim. Once you do that you see that the boot material is just held on the inner plastic with staples. I removed the staples, trimmed the bottom of the boot, restapled, and then reinserted the inner plastic in the outer trim piece. Keep in mind that the inner plastic part is a different size on bottom vs top, so you have to be sure you have the orientation right when you restaple the boot.The boot material for this part seems thinner than the original boot material but we'll see how well it wears over time.Once the boot was trimmed I think the final result looks sharp. Given the very affordable starting price I have a hard time taking anything off of the final review stars.

VW original was coming to pieces, the top shifting medallion fell off constantly, and the rubber areas on the palm were getting sticky. This popped right in, and works great.

I trimmed about 0.75" from the boot cloth to match the original shifter boot length. Then had to resecure it to the plastic bracket. I used safety wire. Turned out nice without the extra material. Definetly worth the asking price if you are handy

Rly not bad, the shift boot is definitely a hair larger which is exactly what I wanted so I could cover the converter. Does feel a hair cheaper, especially the shift knob

Great buy! Installed in my 2010 cc with a 6mt. Obviously the bezel did not fit as expected but I was able to take apart the stock one and replace the knob and boot with this one easily. Fits and feels oem. For a gti/gli I'm sure this would drop right in. Would recommend

Conosco molto bene questo tipo di articoli e di solito causano non poche rogne visto la loro natura economica. Devo dirvi che sono rimasto sorpreso, a livello di design ed eleganza penso sia il migliore persino meglio degli originali per golf 5. La “pelle” sembra essere di buona qualità e per ora è come nuova dopo qualche mese dal acquisto. Il pomello in stile cerotto con i forellini, leggermente morbido al tatto risulta piacevole. Non comprate pomelli troppo economici questi è perfetto.
