Exactly as described, well written
Apparently giving 5 stars is like saying "I Love It". This is odd to say about a work related book. (They aren't usually page-turners!) However this book is worth each of the 5 stars. In addition to useful tips, techniques, and best practices it helped me understand correlation of the thousands of options in HFM. I also think Peter Fugere did a good job by not repeating how-to procedures that are already available in the user guide. Example: I wanted to know what "Flow" account type meant, this book taught me that. The emphasis was not to give me a step-by-step instruction on how to change an account type.

Accurate and informative but rambling
I am not certain who the target audience was for this book. Sometimes I think that's true of the author as well. While he knows his stuff it seems like he skips back and forth between administrator, user, implementer and architect vies. This is not a bad thing but makes it difficult to get a concise answer. That being said it's a very informative book and if you read it cover to cover you should have a much better understanding of the inner workings of HFM. But if you don't read it cover to cover you'll likely miss information pertinent to your role or questions. I am not an HFM expert but I am much more comfortable in my ability to support the business now that I've read this book, between it and the internal HFM documentation you should be able to puzzle out what needs to be done. Finally, make sure you increase your LRU cache size, that single change by far and away provided the biggest improvement for my users.

Great Book.
This is not a typical setup guide or an admin guide. It goes beyond that. The author has done a great job explaining various complex concepts. I enjoyed reading this book. This is the best material I have ever seen in HFM space.

Given the dearth of any kind of HFM books out there, this one is ok....many concepts not clearly presented here

I could not understand how book can be about classic version - EPMA must be used now.I do not know could I check this beforehand but I could not understand.Br Elina Heinonen, Finland

Really poorly written book
This book's title includes " HFM - Design, Implementation & Support". The contents of this book are anything but that. Very poorly written book. Take the security section, for example, the author spends pages explaining what security concepts, security groups and security users are. Little or no time is spent actually showing how to customize security which buttons to click and how you can access the security module. It does not show how to set up users or user groups. More importantly, by the time you finish reading a chapter you have not gained much expertise about HFM and how to "Design, Implement & Support" it as the title suggest.

A great book. Wish there was more like this (like for FDMee)
Great to have a book like this available. Overall it is well writen and understandable and gave a terrific view of all steps though a consolidation. I find sometimes the language assumes certain comfort with underlying skills, like with VBScript making a little more description beneficial to me that are uncomfortable with coding. Also there is a lot of content on other products that are not not clear if they are included with HFM or shared services or an additional purchase. A detailed case or more extensive real life examples would be helpful.
