While I don't know much about confectionary recipes this seems to be added for authentic gummy recipes.Sorbitol is a sugar variant for thickening - and yes, it will cause digestive issues if you eat too much. How much is that? I don't know, but after eating several gummies with it, I can tell!

Infested with Bugs!!!
My sorbitol was full of bugs!!! Flour beetles I believe. Received the order last week, packaging was sealed and didn't appear to have any holes, but when I poured out some of the powder it appeared to be full of tiny bugs. Photo is of sorbitol powder right after adding to water as I was attempting to make a solution.
