Actually better than some more expensive racks
Had one wrong bolt but made it work. Was better than a rack I bought that was double the price.

Measure height of vehicle, we came 2 inches from not fitting in garage.
We had 2 kayaks, works great, no worries when traveling, Sturdy, solid once placed in brackets. Works great.

Good product
My only issue is that bolts are too long. Longer could be 3 /4 inch shorter. And other bolts can be 1/ 4 shorter. I cut my down after my first use.

Poor quality
Very difficult to put together as it has a poor finish. Mounted it, first trip put it lost it’s hold and came loose. Causing my Yakima bars that are rated for 300 lbs to get a dent and twist. Very poor quality

Spend more money and find something that's more user-friendly
The rack itself was a puzzle to assemble and was missing several washers. The installation wasn't difficult, but the straps were insufficient with no way to tighten them down. We ended up spending another $20 to buy ratchet straps

Worked perfectly for a pelican kayak.
So I bought this a while back and have to say for the price you can't go wrong. This is extremely easy to setup if anyone says otherwise they probably have issues turning on their TV. One thing I thing I don't really like is there's no padding on the brackets that bolt onto the roof rack. So what I did was cut some rubber from a spare tire tube I had to cushion the bracket to the rack so it doesn't scratch it. I also tried the straps that the kit came with and had no problems with them either but I never trust straps like this so I just use a light duty rachet strap to tie down the kayak. Other than that I've had no issues hauling around my fishing kayak

Great product
I seach for days for good J bar, and finally chose those. I'm impressed by the product. BUT the straps that come with it are really really shot...too shot for my kayak.

If I had nothing to compare, this would rate better.
The good, it's as advertised. It comes with 2x straps, flexible rubber base pad, foam padding for the bars, and mounting hardware as pictured. When you look around Amazon's offerings, you'll see at least a dozen of these things for about the same price - currently at just under 80CAD plus taxes. When you compare the price to the big Y & T brands, it's a bargain. Sure, they don't fold... they're made of powder coated steel, not aluminum, and these straps have a little cloth pad rather than a molded plastic/rubber housing for the clasp. I think it's reasonable to assume most people would be thrilled with the price difference and accept the quality. I purchased based on this thinking. However, I needed 2 sets. I decided to purchase from different vendors/brands...both sets within a couple dollars difference, negligible.I've attached pictures to illustrate the differences... because I have 2 to compare, I am actually contemplating on returning this because I feel it's not actually worth the price.A few notable differences in quality... the bar structure - this one uses a welded coupler to create the joint. The better ones don't use a coupler. That means this one has more seams, more chance of failure, definitely more chance of rust/corrosion. If the coupler piece was longer to provide structural support through the bolt joints, that would have made a difference. The rubber base pad, is very flexible, and the relief forms don't line up to the steel mounting plate. The bolt holes in the rubber don't form a counter-sunk contact surface to the steel bar, so the bolt heads make full contact to the painted steel. Since the rubber is so flexible, it's possible to move off their intended position. The steel bar has foam padding. However the quality and amount of padding, pales in comparison. It's shorter and thinner, but does slide - allowing you to find an optimal position. The steel bar is also a lighter gauge steel, and overall diameter is much much smaller than the other brand.Again, there's nothing inherently wrong or bad about this product, with two exceptions... the coupler/joint design, and the gestural "pad" for the strap. It's just if you had a comparison, there are better choices for the same cost.Need to decide to return or not...
