ATH-E70 Professional in-Ear Monitor Headphones, Black

I am finally finished with my search for a quality set of earbuds!! I was beginning to wonder if such an animal was even possible with this style of monitor. This is the 5th pair I have owned in the last 30 days and with each purchase and return I have had to add more money to the total amount trying to spend as little as possible to have the quality needed for a bass player to be able to track with on stage. I started out with the Shure 112 moving to the Shure Se215 immediately and then to the Audio Technica IM02 to the Future Sonic G10 and have now sunk more than I had ever thought reasonable into these Audio Technica ATH-E70's. They are the real deal but to me still seem overpriced. I am glad though at least I didn't have to spend stupid money like $3000 or even $1500 to get this quality of sound. So I just got these today but upon trying them out for just a little while I can tell right away that they are what I have been looking for. The sound is full and gives me everything I want to hear as a bass player. I can tell that they won't give me trouble falling out and can tell that they are made with extremely high build quality. The fit is amazing and I don't have to worry about them hurting my ears by pressing on my outer ear too much like the Shure se215's did. I am super happy with the product itself but just wish it came at a lower price point so I could refer the rest of my band members to them. You're not going to find your average worship team volunteer willing to sink $400 into a pair of earbuds but unfortunately to get a sound that makes you want to put them on that's how much it costs.... I challenge anyone to find a set that has the type of audio quality and range of deep all around sound that these have at a lower price.

All I can say is wow. As I retired audio engineer I know what good sound, sounds like. Neutral tone, open, nuanced. The best listening experience I've had outside of $200k+ mastering studios with listening environments designed from the ground up by acoustic engineers. The low end response is remarkable - very deep, smooth, no detectable distortion, no discernible peaks or valleys in frequency response. Every recording I play thru these phones takes me to a completely unique, discrete place! I was able to use the included large size silicone ear tips for a perfect seal that doesn't shift when moving around or running. The over-ear, behind-the-back cable placement takes some getting used to, but is the best design in in-ear monitors I've come across. My only criticism is the top end. It's crystal clear and extended, but at times seems like it's been rolled off a bit more than I would prefer. There are some types of detail I still find easier to hear on my Focal monitors or ProAc monitors. That said, I'll take what I've got if it means less shrill tones and less ear fatigue. FWIW I haven't tried any aftermarket ear tips, which some people claim can alter the high end or low end response of this type of headphone. And from my (internet) research, I'd be very hard pressed to find anything that suits my needs better for less than double or triple what I paid for these. Audio Technica knocks it out of the park again!

These are top-notch in-ears. Once I got them seated correctly they rival my best headphones for dynamics, details, clarity, soundstage. A dedicated headphone amp helps them shine. A little eq helps balance the bass and treble. If you're new to IEMs, like I am, they are a bit of a pain to manage at first. The way they fit is not intuitive. The first several times I used them it was a bit of a "square peg round hole" experience. The cable is not especially long and it is sensitive to vibration. Finally, the silicone tips they came with were useless to me. I ended up ordering a sample pack of foam tips from Comply and the large ones fit great and give me the seal and isolation (and bass) I was looking for. They won't be replacing my favorites headphones anytime soon, but for sound isolation and critical listening they're pretty hard to beat. This is listening to hi-res music in a quiet room. I bought these partly for on-stage applications. We'll see.

Edit: actually the sound is excellent. They're compared to westone w80, noble k10 etc... Those iems run you around 2k. Also said to be better than $3000 layla. Edit: actually the fit is fine or not as bad if your not too mobile. But for going outside, not so great. But sound is really good Edit 2: anyone complaining about sibilance is more than likely listening to bad recordings or a bad source. Because these are reference, they only reproduce the recording or source. If you have a song that was recorded bad, these will actually sound worse than other iems. But if you're listening to music with good quality production, these will sound leaps and bounds better than other iem in their price range and below.

I've been using these since Dec 2020. I play electric and acoustic guitar in a band with 7 other musicians. We play about one or two gigs per week. I've tried several different IEMs and can safely say that for me at least, these are my favorite. They are a little pricey but the sound and durability justify it for me. Your mileage may vary.

Let me start by saying ATH-E 70 in my regard & by many others who are professionally into music is one of the best monitor headphones in its price range & above. Let me explain why this is, I won't get into its form factor & explain as normally people do about sound i.e. highs, lows and mids. What i want to bring forth here is the nature of sound that this headphone is able to deliver & why that makes it one of the best in its category & above. Sound, specifically what is music to our ears can be perceived in various ways. Live sounds, the ones that are delivered via speakers and other systems and then live music delivered naturally without any of these devices; plain sound emitting from instruments and vocals. Then there is studio recording, where music is recorded under special and specific conditions. Finally the way we normally hear music i.e. via a music player/DAP’s, digital music files & headphones. Under all these circumstances a particular musical piece may sound different in different setups & we may also feel it differently. Which situation would you say is ideal when it comes to hearing a sound in its truest form? Or as many say, music/sound as intended by the musician? Most get caught up by the idea of 'I like my music in a particular way' & invariably end up buying a particular DAP - headphones with specific sound traits or finally EQ music to their taste. Now here it’s not a question of what is right or wrong, like most things in life it’s relative to the individual. But say that you get a chance to experience sound as if you are sitting around musicians in an open space and hear them play & sing with no speakers or any other systems. This is the setup for hearing sound/music in its most natural form & ATH E-70 is manufactured to produce this sound. But being such an effective and fine-tuned headphone, it naturally reciprocates to the quality of the music player and music files, as this headphone on its own doesn’t have any particular sound characteristics. You may think this as a bad thing to have no particular sound trait of its own, but believe me, not only is it difficult to create such fine-tuned headphone that recreates sound in its most natural form but to also to have an equipment that gives you a chance to experience music in the most organic manner. As if you are not just seeing the river flowing and thinking about how the water will feel, but you are able to touch water yourself and experience it at a very personal level. Even if my grasp on language or my power of thinking is not allowing me to explain this in a much lucid manner, I will definitely say that buy it or not, at least hear it once. That too with the best player you can get your hands on and quality music files. Before you hear music know if your player has any musical traits like being bright/warm or any other musical presentation. Don’t EQ it, hear it as it is & then experience ATH-E 70. Likes & dislikes is a different thing but you will at least know how music sounds in it's most basic and natural form I have heard & owned various headphones and in-ear’s ranging from AKG ‘s reference headphones to campfire’s & Audeze planar’s, but this particular Audio Technica monitor is of a truly special quality. It allows you to sense music at it's core level and be content with it. I feel sad that such a rare and special product is not that well recognized, possibly one of the main reason is people approach music and related equipment’s with a lot of preconceived notions and hence in return when they get life giving water to drink instead of the expected juice or alcohol, people naturally get disappointed. So my request to all music & headphone lovers is to at least try it once.

Really excellent sound, well made, decent case and various earhole gubbinses for good fit. The cable is fairly sturdy, too. Mine are now several years old and they've been worth the cost. Slightly bulkier earpieces, compared to Shure equivalent (535) and not quite as comfortable, but better built and to my ears slightly better sound quality.

I am a drummer and use them mainly for in ear monitors - our whole band just transitioned to iems and it's a godsend. I am using the Comply Premium tips and though they take a bit to get used to, the noise isolation is superior to anything out there and they stay in your ears very snuggly. With these you can turn everything down which makes it so much easier to make the mix right and simply makes playing 100% more enjoyable. I see some complaints on here about them falling out but you have to know how to use them. Why someone would spend this much money on a premium IEM and then not try different tips is beyond me. Highly recommended.

【使用環境】 PC（イコライザ調整あり） → ZEN DAC 3（外部電源接続、常時Xbass ON） → ATH-E70（付属3.5mmケーブル、付属コンプライイヤーピース） 用途：音楽鑑賞、動画視聴 【結論：買って大正解！】 オーテクのCKSシリーズ（550X/770X/1100X）を渡り歩いてきましたが、E70は別格です。セール時なら迷わず買いと言える実力機。ただし、ポテンシャルを引き出すにはDACが必須だと感じます。 【音質：解像度と定位が素晴らしい】 音量の大きな楽器の裏に隠れていた小さな音が、クッキリと分離して聞こえます。音の輪郭がスッキリしたおかげで、何百回と聴いた古い曲がまるでリミックスやリマスター版を聴いているかのような新鮮な感覚で蘇りました。 これには正直驚きです。 反面、音にごまかしが効かないため、音質の悪い音源はそのまま「悪い」と分かってしまうモニターらしいシビアさもあります。 【装着感と付属品】 初のシュア掛けでしたが、一日中付けていられるほど負担が少なく、耳穴へのストレスはゼロです。付属のコンプライ製イヤーピースもフィット感・音質ともに最高でした。 【注意点：スマホ直挿しと「湿気」について】 スマホ直挿し： 悪くはないですが、音の広がりが物足りず値段相応の感動は薄いかもしれません。 ぜひDACとセットで使ってほしいです。 音の詰まり現象： シリコンピースで長時間使用中、片側が聞こえなくなることがありました。故障を疑いましたが、原因は耳の蒸れによる内部の結露（水滴）のようです。現在はタッパーに乾燥剤を入れて保管することで、全く問題なく使用できています。非常にデリケートな機種なので、保管方法には少し気を遣ってあげた方が安心かもしれません。
