Kidney Restore Dog Treat

I have had these wonderful treats for about five days now. I found them when I was looking for something healthier than the usual stuff for my senior dog, Blake. I was looking for a treat that contained astragalus, which these do, because it has been around for years and has been proven beneficial for several ailments, including kidney and heart problems. Now Blake, my dog, is getting up there in years. He has some issues with arthritis. And earlier this year, I became concerned with his urinary health — not drinking enough water, not always being available to take him outside — those sorts of things. And the astragalus, which is in the treats, reduces joint inflammation, so I decided to go with them. I am happy to report that he is doing well; he loves the treats! And I have to say: I love the value. First, they smell amazing! Maybe it’s the fall weather and the fact that they contain cranberry and pumpkin, but they fit the definition of “treat time” for my pup. Their scent reminds me of Fig Newtons — it constantly makes me hungry. As for the value, as I said, the bag is large, absent of empty unused spaced. And it reseals nicely. The treats vary in size — they are handmade — but they are sturdy and intact, not like a bag of broken potato chips. They have great size. (as shown in my photos) They are hard but soften-up nicely with water like the label recommends. All and all, I highly recommend them. I will certainly be repurchasing these treats.

My rat terrier loves these. They are very hard, and at first we did have to soak them in water for a few min, but by the end of the bag he was eating them without soaking first. His kidney failure went from Stage 2-3 to Stage 1. I can't say it was 100% these because we also changed him to Hills Science Diet K/D food and cut out all the high protein/high phosphorus treats and greatly reduced the amount of meat he was getting when we ate, but I'm sure this did help!

These treats are hard as a rock (stale? out of date?). There is no aroma, and we all know dogs use their noses to decide if something seems good to eat. I used a small tack hammer to break a few pieces apart and still my dog would not eat them. I tried a bite and it was tasteless. My dog on the kidney diet is an elderly Pekingese and picky, but if something smells good he will eat it. He won't eat these treats and I do not blame him.

I’ve been using these for a while for our older dog with early kidney disease. Not all dogs like them for sure - but the dogs we have that do like them - only like bacon. So, we just use bacon only and I would say 3 out of the 5 dogs will eat that flavor. Lastly, 2 of our small senior dogs (6 and 8 lbs )have no teeth. We have long learned with any of these hard type treats to crush them with a lime juicer. We tape the outside of the bottom and they crush up pretty well. Well enough for sure. As for their effectiveness, we made several diet changes including offering these as a treat and our dog’s kidney values much better.

I feel more at ease since the Niacinamide safely lowers harmful phosphorous levels. I appreciate the fact that this item is recommended by veterinarians for supporting normal kidney function in senior pets without harmful drugs. This product seems reasonably priced and arrived quickly. I highly recommend this seller!

I’m sure they are good but they were too hard for my 15yr old shih zhu to eat. Maybe if they come out with a softer treat for dogs with kidney failure.

I love so many things about this product! First, the natural ingredients are wonderful and so much better than some of the ingredients in a lot of other pet foods and treats. If you read the labels on many popular brands of pet foods, you'll see some disturbing ingredients. Our pet's food should be made with ingredients fit for humans. These Kidney Restore treats look and smell like cookies or biscuits. I didn't taste them myself, but I was tempted to! Lol Another great thing is that they're made in the U.S. I prefer to buy local when possible. Now, my three fur babies can be a little bit picky with some healthier treats so they wouldn't just eat these straight up. No worries though, I just ground the treats into a powder in my food processor and mixed them in with their wet food. When it comes to protecting your pet's health, you do what you've got to do! They eat it up, no problem.
