Simple & Clear Instruction at PrimeLine.net
Got the simple and clear instruction at PrimeLine.net. Used a pencil to mark the ceiling hole and drilled it first. Tried to open (down) and close (up) many times to ensure the smooth operation into the ceiling hole. Next marked the screws positions on the sliding door frame. Drilled the tiny holes on the sliding door frame at the marked positions. Then drove the actual screws to tighten the lock to the door frame. Besides the enhanced security, this can also prevent autistic and dementia people from eloping.

Solidly built, great mechanism, useful for purposes other than sliding patio doors
I got this to secure a bi-fold door, which are not easy to secure unless you want an ugly 90-degree latch and a padlock. This solution is much more discrete and appealing looking. I added it to keep my 7 year old daughter out who is like a mouse, constantly stealing food from the pantry and nibbling it. We find wrappers behind and under all the furniture. No more. The pantry is now like a vault. This lock has a VERY long pin. I added door-stop side molding to further secure the door in locked position. Works GREAT!!

Maybe worth another try.
I had to purchase this again due to the first one I purchased broke. I am crossing my fingers that this one will hold up for a couple of years instead of a couple of months.
