Great display for your project
There were no reviews on this product when I bought it, so this was a bit of a risk. The entire unit does not come pre-assembled. This is a good thing, because most hobbyists just want the display board anyways. However, the seller could have done a better job notifying the customer of this fact on the actual Amazon listing instead of exclusively on their website. No written instructions (you get a CD rom, I have no way to play those anymore), but it's not difficult to figure out on your own. Just look at the picture of the assembled unit and it's pretty obvious. You plug the USB power and the HDMI into the RPi and everything works just fine. I'm not entirely sure why this thing has two USB ports on it as of this writing. The software end was easy. I was able to get it working on my RPi2 and my RPi3. Just drop in their provided config into /boot/config.txt (for Raspbian) and you're all set. Display is decently bright and clear. Colors are good. If you're a display snob you probably won't be floored by the picture quality, but I think it looks great. The unit is about the size of your average Android tablet, and the touch screen is just as functional. I can see a lot of cool projects that will benefit greatly from a display like this. The stand is the only downside to this product. It's wobbly and unstable. However, if this unit is going to live on a flat, stable surface and not move around a whole bunch, then it will do the job. However, the front and back plastic shields are easy enough to drill holes in and mount to whatever you want. The back plastic has pre-measured holes to easily mount common RPi cases.I've included photos of a 2 node Pi cluster mounted directly to the back of the rear plastic shield that comes with the display, just as an example of how you can mount things to it. Using the RPis as the stand is actually very sturdy! So, the crummy stand is irrelevant when you can just make your own.I went back and edited this review because I'm actually more impressed with this unit now than I was when I first got it. I hope Eleduino gets more business so I can get more cool products like this.Great product, no regrets. 5 stars.

Bad support, Bad integration, Anything is better than this!
While I love to tinker with various hardware and software features on the Raspberry Pi, I found this a bit too much for the price involved. I mean, you're talking about almost $70 for a 7-inch screen (touch-screen is nice, but really wasn't that needed - only the 7-inch monitor was), and then you're talking about 2+ hours to build the frame, fight putting the chincy stand together, wiring it all together, and then maddeningly trying to figure out what settings to change that even Ubuntu Mate 16.04 didn't have already-resident that would make the image go full-screen. Sure, after an hour of realizing that the config.txt file needs SERIOUS changes helps - but they could have said this IN THE LISTING, not by leaving ALL DOCUMENTATION out of the box (hey, a small sheet in the box that says 'go to Elduino website and read up on how to modify your config.txt file FIRST) would have been really, REALLY nice! Instead, no drivers, no heads-up, no paperwork, no NOTHING, that even when you modify the config.txt file and get it working properly, you STILL end up with boot errors saying 'CAN'T FIND SUITABLE RESOLUTION, trying ALL HDMI SETTINGS'.Yes, it runs, yes it is possible to play hunt-and-seek for how to get it to, and yes, I did get it working (albeit, still with that nagging boot-screen telling me that it can't find the HDMI resolution desired). At 4-hours into it, I just turned it all off - figure I'll dive back into the config.txt file next time I want to fight this 7-inch blunder. Deep, deep regrets on this purchase. It's more like a product developed by grad students for 'what could be', instead of a finished product for retail markets. Seriously, I could have built 20 RPi's in the time I wasted on getting this to work. (and for another $20, could have just bought a 15" TV with HDMI input, and had a LOT MORE for a lot-less-headache.Take a pass on this junk, until they learn that typing a one-page paper insert for their product will lead to a lot less hassle for their victim, er, customer.*** UPDATE: (8-months later) ***Well, it does still work, but Eleduino orphaned the product so don't expect any more 'help' for it now that the new 'Official 7" Pi Display has came out (interestingly enough, Eleduino is building cases for the Official Display while not offering any for this ragged POS).As a result of 'orphaned', 'abandoned' and 'big price drop with no intention to further support it', I'm dropping the 2-star original rating down to 1 star. I won't buy another Eleduino product, as a result of this fiasco that resulted in more of a 'graduate student proof-of-concept' than a commercial product effort.

Best of the 4 I tried for a mobile Pi
Works well out of 3 other screens I bought before this. It really needs 2.5 amps of power to function well. Videos did not run at first, but I added a line in the boot.config file which fixed that. The Monitor is light so I put it in a Plastic case to use i as a mobile device. It uses less power than an IPS screen so the Fuel battery sold here on Amazon gives it a good 6-7 hours before it gets weak on power. Overall very useful product for the Pi. May be underpowered if I added more devices which I have not tried yet. I am using a wifi dongle plus a keyboard dongle in the Pi's USB ports. The touch & screen is also powered by the USB so make sure you add "max_current=1" to the boot.config file. The touch is not perfect, but works.

As a monitor it works wonderfully. Great screen quality
I'll start off by saying that I have yet to use the touch aspect of this screen - I bought it solely as a small monitor. As a monitor it works wonderfully. Great screen quality. I thought the stand was actually fine. It was fun to assemble, and don't forget to peel the paper from the plastic. The display has two micro USB ports, one for power/data, and a second for supplemental power. My Raspberry Pi Model 2 was just able to power the monitor on the first power/data port, but once I plugged in the WiFi dongle the screen flickered - so you should plan on getting a second power supply for the screen. It has four holes on the back to mount the RPI - I wish it came with four screws. I'd definitely buy this again.
