Little Owl's Snow

Beautiful illustrations, cute storyline, and a gentle reminder about life
The adorable little owl with the huge eyes is back for another mini adventure! This book follows "Little Owl's Day" and "Little Owl's Night" and includes some familiar characters, such as the bear. In this book our owl friend watches the forest become quieter as most of the animals retreat to their winter hiding places, then gets to experience the wonder of snow for the first time. He misses his friends, but his mother reminds him that they will be back in the spring and that now is a good time to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the snow-covered forest around him. I'm guessing a lot of toddlers reading this book will relate to the first-time discovery of snow. It's not a complex "plot," but it doesn't need to be. Some of the beauty of this book is in its simplicity and tranquility, not to mention the gentle reminder to stop and appreciate the time and place we are in instead of constantly wishing for the future. This is obviously a good lesson for kids, but it's a good reminder for adults too, and Srinivasan gets the message across without being preachy. As with the other two books in this series, the illustrations are beautiful; in fact, many of them are even more elaborate than those in the first two books (the picture when Owl first sees snowfall is particularly well done). There is something about the illustrations that I find soothing, which is perhaps why I don't mind when my daughter wants to read these over and over!I was happy to add this to our daughter's library, and I hope to see more tales of the Little Owl.

A wondrous experience as winter unfolds
This is one of those wondrous children’s books that comes along occasionally and is an instant winner. In this story Little Owl sees his first winter approach, along with the different reactions and winter habits of his friends and all the new experiences that accompany a cold season. It celebrates winter. The author is doubly talented as illustrator too, and she clearly knows what captivates children the most. Her illustrations show humor and awe of nature, and her nighttime scenes (for a little owl), are nicely lit up with just the right colors so that we see as much as we would in the daytime. Little Owl has big expressive, luminous eyes that convey curiosity and marvel at how the world changes. I especially love the scene where he and his friends "make fog" in the cold air. Is there anyone who doesn't enjoy doing this? This is a great night or daytime story and will be treasured. For grandparents, you can’t miss with this one.

Another great Little Owl book! 💕
Our whole family loves all the Little Owl books. We own every book by Divya Srinivasan including Octopus Alone. Such cute illustrations and very well written books! Little Owl’s Snow is right up there with the others. Just perfect. The Little Owl books make great gifts for babies or toddlers too. We were first introduced to Little Owl via a gift I received at my baby shower over 2 1/2 years ago of Little Owl’s Day and Little Owl’s Night, and we have been reading Little Owl to our daughter since she was a newborn and she still loves it at 2 1/2 years old. We even did a Little Owl theme for her first birthday party. Highly recommend this book and every book by Divya Srinivasan.

Cute pictures
Love the pictures in this book! I really wanted my LO to like this book. I tried several times to read it. Every time I'd only get so far before I'm told to close the book and read another. I personally felt the rhythm in this book is a bit off. When I previewed it I did not get that sense but when I received it and read it a few times the words didn't roll off my tongue as easily. I'm guessing this is why LO didn't like the book as much. LO likes books with rhymes.

This is such a beautifully written and illustrated book, about the very real magic of life and the journey of growing up and seeing the world through little eyes, being filled with joy and wonder facing new discoveries. My little boy loved it.

Although this author's works have not been popular in Japan, ...
Little owl series are very cute and fine stories, of course the paintings are very impressive.I hope many parents who are rearing kids in Japan read this series books. If I could have a right to translate this series, I would do it.
