but it fit great and works with no problems
This item arrived, I installed it and it works as described. I thought it would be a little higher quality on the part that threads into the lamp fixture, but it fit great and works with no problems.

Easy to install. Great quality for the price.

Good value
I ordered the on/ off switch in nickel. Great replacement for the failed light switch on a ceiling fan. Here are my thoughts:Pros:- Exact fit for old switch.- long wire leads made install easier and seemlessCons:- more of a chrome finish than nickel finish on pull chain- pull chain segment is quite short. Made routing the chain a tad harder- wire nuts not includedOverall I am satisifed. Durability is TBD. So far, no regerts!

GB (Gardner Bender) GSW-31 Pull-Chain Switch
This switch is under-designed garbage. Zero stars would be a more accurate rating. The first one I installed only lasted one month before the pathetically wimpy plastic lever inside the switch that holds the end of the chain broke. The warranty replacement switch I received from GB failed in the exact same way after three month in service. See the picture I posted above of this failure. I am the only one who used the switch for about 20 off / on cycles per day so I know that the chain was never over tensioned. The Leviton pt no. 10041-500 (6A 125 VAC) would be a much better (but not problem free) choice for a pull-chain switch (available on eBay). See my review of the lower amperage rated Leviton 10097-008 switch on Amazon for details that are also relevant to the 10041-500. Leviton 10097-8 Pull Chain Switch, Single Pole On-Off; 1A-125V T, 3A-125V, 1A-250V; With Two 6 Inch Black Leads 18 Awg Awm Tew 105C 600V, Stripped 1/2 Inch Another possibility is the 6A125VAC rated Sinton pull chain switch E81372 distributed by Pass Seymour which is available on eBay. This switch lasted several years in my application and finally failed from fatigue failure of the torsional return spring.UPDATE 2/28/2017Thankfully the switch has been redesigned by replacing the wimpy piece of green plastic that breaks with a piece of white plastic that looks much stronger. The updated switch is made for GB by Shine Top and has electrical ratings of 6A 120 Vac, 3A 120 Vac L (L = inductive load such as an electric motor or a fluorescent light with a magnetic coil ballast), 3A 240 Vac. I installed one of the new switches about a month ago and will report any problems with it should one come up. Leviton 10097-8 Pull Chain Switch, Single Pole On-Off; 1A-125V T, 3A-125V, 1A-250V; With Two 6 Inch Black Leads 18 Awg Awm Tew 105C 600V, Stripped 1/2 Inch

It worked
I bought a ceiling fan that after a few weeks of installation, the pull-down switch failed. I ordered this part and it looked and fit as a direct replacement of the unit that failed. So replaced the bad one with this new unit and it worked. However, given the materials used in the construction of the switch, I can see why the first one failed and it is likely that this one will fail again at some not too distant future. The switch is made cheaply, as "most" things now days, in my opinion.
