Volume 8

The John Bush era of Anthrax was awesome and this album is one of their best. I've never had the opportunity to buy this album new, glad they re-released it.

I purchased the 2021 CD. I'm glad they re-released this album since it was hard to find and generally overpriced on the resale market. It's certainly a unique offering from Anthrax. It's groove metal with thrash and even country tones. They seem to be trying to find their place in the era of Nu-Metal. There are alot of good songs and it's still growing on me. For hardcore fans, this is worth purchasing. If you're more a classic Belladonna era fan, maybe sit this one out. They actually included artwork and liner notes (missing on the 2021 SOWN and Stomp 442), but they still look photocopied and blurry. The sound seems fine and overall, I don't feel ripped off.

This is great Bush era Anthrax. Solid all the way through. Highly recommended!

One of my favorite JB era Anthrax albums. Translates perfectly to vinyl. It’s a double album with great packaging and a high quality red/orange/yellow pressing. I needed this for my collection and I’m buying Stomp 242 and We’ve Come For You All based on my happiness with this release.

This album just doesn’t do it for me.

I bought this album on cd when it came out, back when CDs cost as much as vinyl does now.Well worth it, fluorescent orange and yellow two disc version, all the bangers, and some mental extra tracks!Bangin'

Edición en vinilo por primera vez del octavo disco del grupo y tercero con John Bush como cantante. Editado originalmente en 1998, como es habitual en Anthrax supuso una nueva vuelta de tuerca al sonido del grupo. Constante en la banda no se repite sonido de álbum a álbum de modo que Spreading the disease no suena como Among the living ni Persistence of time no suena como Sound of the white noise. En Volume 8 el grupo juega con el thrash primigenio, el groove o incluso el New metal. Odiado por muchos por no ser fiel al sonido de los ochenta de la banda... Realmente supone una gema oculta en la discografía del grupo, grabado en el peor momento para ellos (les habían largado de Elektra por el fiasco comercial del Stomp 442, el hermano de Frank Bello fue asesinado, el nuevo sello en el que grabaron este disco ni invirtió en la grabación ni promocionó el lanzamiento y... Al poco de editarse quebró)) en lugar de ir a lo más fácil optaron por hacer el disco más variado posible pasando del groove y el thrash en temas como Crush o Born again idiot, al new metal de Catharsis o Inside out... Hasta influencias country en la cachonda Toast to the extras. Todo es posible en este disco.En cuanto a la edición en si, la carpeta del álbum respeta el arte original del vinilo, es una carpeta doble mate, quizás un pelín delgada pero muy cuidada. Los vinilos son... Para mi que no soy fan de colorines un tanto horteras. Uno es rojo con naranja y el otro verde fluorescente con amarillo eléctrico. De todos modos suenan francamente bien pese al color y a que el álbum se editó originalmente en CD. A nivel de sonido, muy detallado y con separación. El disco está autoproducido por el grupo y el guitarra solista que tenían en esa época... En CD sonaba un tanto maquetero pero en vinilo se agradece que la batería tenga más cuerpo y el bajo este más presente ya que es una mejora al sonido digital.Si eres fan de la era Bush agradeceras esta edición (como es mi caso) o bien si simplemente has disfrutado de discos como We've come for you all o Worship music ya que estos discos no son más que la evolución natural de lo que se grabó para el Volumen 8...si solo te interesa Belladona... Pues dudo que disfrutes de el aunque sorprende porque en cuanto a calidaz sobrepasa con creces al For all kings.
