Bigger than what I expected. Looks good and is study enough
The support arms are too short to use at the bottom of my 65inch TV.

Exactly as described
I bought this a few months ago but finally got around to installing it. Wish I hadn't been so lazy :)It was pretty easy to assemble and even easier to attach to my TV - a 50' Sony LED. The attachment "legs" are pretty thin, which meant they easily fit under my existing wall mount strips without adding a lot of extra space (my mount worked best with them under but they will also fit over on some mounts). If you have short-ish screws with your existing wall mount setup you might need to get ones a little longer, depends on your existing equipment - mine were fine. The only trick to installing it is you need to get the position/height right before you mount it - there's no way to adjust it up/down when fully installed. Use measuring tape first to "block" it out with your TV still mounted to the wall. I found the best way to install it was to put the TV face down on a bed with the bottom edge right at the edge of the bed itself - then you can easily screw everything in and adjust it before tightening down.As for the rest, well, it looks pretty sharp without standing out and easily fits both my little HTPC box and my IR headphone receiver, plus a Roku 3, all without looking cluttered. In fact everyone who has seen it at my house has immediately asked me where to buy one. I like the way they designed this shelf much better than others I have seen. Keep in mind that it's not that big - it'll fit a cable box or BD player, two if you stack them, or several smaller components like I do, but it's not going to hold an A/V receiver or anything like that (and would look pretty dumb if it did anyway). For bigger components you'll need one of those vertical dual-shelf mount things that they also sell.

Works for my purpose
The glass shelf looks nice and is well made. I am a female and had no trouble assembling it until it came time to attach it to the back of my TV. I am using it on the top of the TV with the shelf facing the back of the TV so it doesn't hang over the screen. It works fine this way since my TV is on a stand and not mounted. You must make sure you have enough room between the TV and the wall, since the shelf is deeper than I expected. Now on to the problem. The kit does NOT include mounting screws to mount the shelf to the back of the TV......really?? So I had to rummage through the garage where I found a various screws from previous projects. I don't know the exact size you need, maybe one of you Handymen out there can chime in on that. Anyhow, I found some that seemed long enough, but then you also need a wide head on the screw or it will go right through the bracket holes. No problem, I just put washers on the ends and it worked. It's attached to a 46inch Philips, and measured up just right. It's a make shift set-up, but a girls got to do what a girls got to do! I am using it for a center speaker on my home theater system that weighs about 6 lbs. works fine. Makes for a clean, look and I like it.Subtracted one star for the lack of TV mounting screws, but otherwise it's a nice product for the price.

Not bad, but thought it was all metal
It wasn't too difficult to put together, but I think there probably could be a better engineered version of it. Also the shelf is glass, I thought it was metal. I wanted metal, because of many reviews of the glass shelves breaking easily, just fyi.

Great Mount - especially for the price.
This is a nice mount - especially for the price. As with all Monoprice mounts, the metal is of good quality and finish. The shelf is glass and looks very nice. The only thing concerning (and why I removed one star) is the quality of the plastic shelf mounts, but that's mainly superficial. I've bought one of these from Monoprice about 3 years ago. While it is designed to face forward (as it's sold as a wall-mount), it works well on TV VESA mounts and with some simple modification, you can mount it backwards. I did this with my center channel speaker and it works great. One note: I didn't look at my previous purchase and thought you could use this with a TV Wall mount, but that really depends. The bars on this mount are L-shaped for support. If your TV Mount is precisely the size of the TV mounting holes, you may be able to fit it inside the L-shaped bars. Any wider mount (such as a close-mount/flat mount) will likely protrude. You could possibly use spacers (often included with Monoprice's mounts) to push it beyond the L's, but I didn't have screws long enough to test.As advertised, this is a great product.

Easiest way to get parts to make your own shelf
I bought this shelf because I needed a nice mount for a center channel speaker over my flat panel TV. I didn't want to go with a standard speaker wall mount because my TV is on an articulated mount, so it was important to get a shelf that could be mounted in conjunction with my existing mount (also a Monoprice mount). However, this shelf is huge. It can easily hold your Blu-ray player, video game systems, and then some. I didn't want something nearly that huge above my TV, so I used the parts from this to make my own shelf. I'm not making any use of the glass shelf and had to trim the horizontal support arms down with a hacksaw, then sand down them down with a Dremel and finish with black spray paint. Next I got a custom laser cut piece of 5mm black plexiglas for the new shelf that fits my speaker perfectly. When mounted on the shortened support arms I now have a perfect mount for my center channel speaker. It's sad that I had to get the glass shelf too, but this appears to be the cheapest way to get mounts for a custom shelf for your flat panel TV.

You'll need a file but for Β£10 it's a bargain.
After mounting our TV on the wall via a long arm we needed something to support our Freeview box under the TV (as there's no wall behind the TV when it's in use). This was mounted to the vesa plate on the back of the TV. The only difficulty was fitting the little plastic brackets that hold the shelf to the vertical arms. The plastic brackets needed a little filing off them for the screws to align with the threads, but, given that the same item is usually found on sale elsewhere ( incl Amazon and Ebay) for over Β£30, it was a bargain. The cardboard in my pic is a temporary solution to the gap you can see around the Freeview box which is a little distracting due to the light coming through the windows behind....soon to be a black metal bracket.

Has Potential
The idea is sound but needs work! loved the idea of the product But it has it flaws, Tv back needs to be flat! this is not stated, *you could wing it* by using spacers to make for a level base* To use this under a Tv would have to be a small tv, this is to gave enough clearance and to use all vesa holes and have space for sat box etc, could use just the bottom vesa holes * but again you would have to use spacers to level it out* as a shelf above TV it works only just on mine *tho would like the option for shelf to face backwards and not over the tv! Overall the fixing to vesa holes needs to be longer to allow full fitting behind bracket to give a flat service and more clearance space under TV. After 2 hrs trying to fit it and a fair bit of winging it! i could not get it to fit, and spent most of my time looking for the smallest screws in the world! luv to see improvements as the idea is sound, Customer service was spot on and a refund received
