Clip on Fly Tying Flip Focal w/ Locking Pin and Snap 2.5X Magnification

Clips on the brim of my hat, stays out of the way as I fish, flips down easily when I need to tie on a fly with my aging eyes. I owned one with 2.5x magnification, which eventually broke. Bought the 3.5x version, then decided it was a mistake -- too much magnification, harder to keep in focus. So I bought another 2.5x. The one drawback: the plastic "U" that clamps onto the brim of your hat eventually weakens and breaks. Also: don't lose the tiny cap on the pin that holds it in place or you will be cutting your finger on the pin.

I was looking for flip down glasses which attach to my fishing hat.

What a pain it was having to switch glasses. With this clip-on magnifier, you just pop it down and tie your knot. Then flip it back up and you are fishing.

I can see my flies and my line magnified, makes it easy to get tippets through the hook eyelet and tie knots. Fits perfectly on the brim of my hat and flips up when not in use. A very functional product. I just wish it was a little cheaper. But if something happened to this one I would definitely buy another despite the cost.

Flipping this down gives my far-sighted vision a chance at threading a hook on the water. Easily attached to the brim of my hat via secure nut. Makes it possible for me to fish. A good thing.

I purchased three different styles to replace the unit that I have had and used for many years but which eventually broke. None of the others would allow you to see the fly with both eyes. These are far better. I return the other versions

Only thing I have found that works for me. I wear glasses and have 79 year old eyes.

I love this product. It helps me tie flies at home and also onto my tippet. The connection to my hat feels secure. Finally I like the way it folds down under my hat bill to keep it out of the rain. On a sunny day I flip it all the way out to avoid some minor reflection from the sun. It makes a real difference in tying my flies to tippet.
