Book Review- Life and Death in Africa
The entire content of the book; the script, resonates with my memories of my life in Africa. The story line portrays an extra dimension to the character of the author who I know personally. The humour is brilliant and the description of the individuals mentioned in the book is non-judgemental and magnanimous. I would recommend the book as an interesting work of anthropology.

I read it in two days!
I read a lot, but this was one of those few books that I literally burned through in about two days, staying up late at night to do so. It is an autobiography and for anyone that has lived in Africa will no doubt stir emotions that only this continent can induce. The writing is to the point, funny, deep and above all humane. The author portrays himself simply, and never shirks from describing his own errors in judgement at a younger age, adding his view now, with the benefit of long hindsight, but in the main it is also a description of the kind of crazy situations, adventures and people that only Africa can create, especially when you add a short-tempered, unhealthily curious and quixotically principled Italian in the mix.I truly recommend this book to anyone, because the human story it ultimately describes relates to all of us, even if the events in it are truly interesting, funny, tragic, loving in their own right, and all the more powerful for their being real instead of fiction.
