I got this item and I give it 5 stars even though I did not use it. Its used to measure the stairs when installing flooring. The method I ended up using did not call for this tool. The tool itself is sturdy and anyone who uses a different method and needs this tool, would be satisfied.

48-52 inch stair tread gauge.
Can go to 55" per description, but can not do a returned bottom tread of 4 foot wide stair case, which is 55-56 inches. No extension offered. Would recommend buying 5 foot tread gauge, but economical and functionally fine otherwise. 6 x 48-481/4" treads and 2 x 56" returned treads.

Vital for Laying Wood on Stairs
A must have for putting wood on stairs. For the price, it was the only option I found. A little flimsy, but did the job and couldn't have gotten the different sizes of stair treads and risers accurately templated to cut the wood otherwise. Will save a lot of time and wasted wood.

Well worth it!
We used this to rebuild our stairs. We had basic carpeted stairs and we used this to create new hardwood stairs and it worked perfectly. No need to spend double or triple on a fancy metal one. This is perfect b

Game changer!!
This was a game changer! I have an older house and if I didn’t have this tool the job would have looked terrible. It was so precise. You definitely need this tool if you wanna make it look professionally done. Well worth the money!!

NOT for accurate measurements 👎
This might be fine for some exterior porch steps but not so much for fine interior work. This jig was WARPED the minute I opened it. Neither of the two sides you are to trace laid flat. One had a 3/8" bow in 12". Ridiculous, and the sealer that was sprayed on it was running down the edges and you could never get a straight line unless you sanded the entire thing. The through bolt to tighten the jig is a joke. The lips of the bolt sit on a a plywood edge which is about 3/32" in diameter and if you apply even the slightest tightness you will be ripping through this ledge. Overall a waste of money for me and it will end up in the trash....
