Great item, works well
I used it to drill 25 10 inch deep holes in S Louisiana clay. Using a Dewalt 18V drill, it burrowed 25 holes on a single battery in 2nd gear/speed position. I waited one day after a thunderstorm while the clay soil was soft and semi moist. Very little effort was needed while drilling each hole. On a few holes the bit grabbed a root or a small rock. You must instantly release your drills trigger switch. DO NOT attempt to jerk the bit out out of the hole!!! Simply reverse the drill to extract your bit, Either start a new hole or re-drill your existing hole at a slightly different angle. . . A few holes I needed by existing trees created lock jam problems. I found out if you run the drill and do not apply any pressure the auger will slowly cut though Small roots. It may jam and lock a few times. Change your angle slightly. After drilling all holes the bit lost some paint but, Is perfectly fine and should core many more holes in the future. PS: I will also mix concrete and pancake batter

Fantastic product
This auger works extremely well and makes a gardener's job so much easier. I recently used this auger to predrill 118 holes for 8-foot T-posts along with 70 holes for grape root starts, 40 bulbs for Lillies, and 20 holes for rhubarb plants. This auger took an incredible amount of punishment that I am sure it was not actually designed to accomplish. I was not kind to it and it came through like a champ. I finally managed to break off the top 1 1/2 drill insert fluted section but continued right along using it without the fluted section. I will plant my vegetable garden with this in a few week's time. Great product that saved me so much backbreaking work!!!! Buy it, you will not be dissappointed.

Awesome for planting 600+ bulbs!
It made 600+ fall bulb planting more bearable! Yes, it will twist your wrist if you hit a large root or rock, but if youโre using two hands on the drill you can stop it before it injures you. All tools need to be used with relative caution, right? This worked wonder for me! I zipped up hundreds of holes and plugged away until they were all planted. It was just what I needed for the job. :) As you can see from my update it was VERY worth everything.

Wonderful solid tool.
Very happy with my purchase, works well and well made. If going through grass I recommend removing just enough to expose the dirt. It works better that way , without wrapping grass strands around the tip kinda clogging it. I bought it to stir and mix my compost barrel as it was getting compacted. Man did it ever work good for that. Iโm using a 12volt battery operated drill. Works well just let the tool do the work and momentarily lift up to clean out the dirt and go back down. If your one to just push and force it you might have issues if it was to catch a root or rock. I did some flower planting with in fairly hard ground and it did well as long as I took my time and didnโt force it.

Works as intended, but not on soil with embedded roots or rocks.
First, this tool was worth the money. However, it'll stop cold once you hit a sizable root or a rock, and it's only useful with a cordless drill - a corded drill will spin fast enough to strip out the hex fitting once you hit an impediment. It seems to work best if you drill down a couple inches, pull the bit straight out (instead of turning it out with the drill in reverse), shake the dirt off the bit, the drill down a couple more inches. Repeat this process until you've got a deep enough hole. If you hit something that stops the bit, then you can break out the shovel.

Very useful!
Most will use this auger to bore holes to plant seed, bulbs or small flowers. I purchased it with intentions of drilling pilot holes to bore under sidewalks. I needed to insert a 2" pipe under 5 sidewalks that were 5 feet wide. Well at 2 and 1/2 feet long this auger bit was able to get half way under each sidewalk with ease. Then I proceeded to tap my 2" pipe the rest of the way through. It worked like a charm! It is very durable and perfect size for my application. The bit enabled me to start the hole and stay on a level plane, which means the pipe comes out the other side at the same depth as you started! Plus I did not have to Backwash my pipe using water from the hose, which creates a huge mess. One tip I have for you would be to drill several inches then pull the bit back to clean the dirt out of the hole. Then repeat every few inches so as not to get the bit stuck. If the bit does get stuck just reverse direction on your drill to back it out. Very happy with this purchase and will be using it to plant my seasonal flowers next!

Used it for starter holes for fence stakes, worked well but the ground was wet. The first one was bent, so I contacted the seller. They sent me a new one and was delivered with out any damage.
