Awesome & fun, as long as you know what you are getting
This is my first kalimba so I can't compare it to other models, but its seems good to me in terms of sound quality & playability. It sounded good to me straight out the box so I didn't even bother with tuning. The shorter/higher pitched tongs didn't seems to have quite the resonance of the longer ones, but from the reviews I've read of other kalimbas, that seems to be fairly common issue.I'm used to guitar tablature so I was a bit confused by the way the music was written in the included instruction manual; however, there are TONS of online resources & videos so I was able to learn a few simple songs within a few minutes. The headphone jack works, although the included cord seemed to be of mediocre quality as I experienced a lot of static that went away when I used another cord I already had. I tried using both a standard guitar amp as well as a guitar pedal that let me add effects like distortion & reverb, and both worked without issue other than the aforementioned static with the included cord. One thing that is important to note is that the pickup is passive and not active--there's no internal amplifier (you would need a battery if there was) so you're not going to get any boost in sound unless you plug it into something with power, so don't expect to be able to just plug in a standard set of headphones. Also, this is a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) jack & cable whereas amps/tuners often use 6.35 mm (1/4 in) inputs, so you may need an adapter. I had plenty laying around from various headphones I've bought over the years, but you may need one if you don't have any.

No connecting wire in the package.
Come without connecting wire. And can not just use aux cable. So I paid for electric kalimba but cameout with no connection cable. Thay made it worth nothing because I already have this clear acrylic kalimba this design at home. I bought a new one for I can conect to my speaker.I paid for nothing. Very disappointing. They offer me 5$ to buy cable but this one can not just use 3.5 mm.I had to return and replace the order for this one.
