We recharge at about 13 hours but it will last around 17.

It can work while being charged

Q: Using the remote on a static color but only last 2hrs need too put on manual again. I thought it stayed on all night

Mine does stay on all night after the full 3 hour charge. I usually use the "smooth" setting. It seems to last the longest after the solid color. Solid color is much longer.
