Amazing Kentia Palms - FAST DELIVERY!
I purchased my first Kentia Palm here on Amazon not really knowing what to expect. Received my first Palm, securely wrapped and stored inside a sturdy cardboard box. It’s a very healthy plant. It arrived in very good shape and was delivered much faster than expected! It’s been almost two weeks out still doing exceptionally well!). After the first week, I liked the first Kentia so much that I ordered my second one. It was equally healthy and almost a week out it is doing exceptionally well. After they both had time to readjust to their new environment, I’ll be transplanting them into the planters you see here, in Miracle Grow’s Palm and cactus soil. They will also sit about 1,1/2 feet taller in these planters, with soil.

Plants
I had my doubts about ordering plants through Amazon but I must say they came well protected and neatly boxed. They arrived safely and are planted and doing well. In fact, they have grown 6 inches already.

Beautiful in the beginning
I am happy with the size at time of purchase; certainly a great deal for the money. It came looking full and as if it traveled well. It took me a week to find the right pot. So, I was a little surprised when I went to repot it and found that it was root-bound with the dirt packed in the middle of the root circles. After watching a YouTube video I learned how to work with it, that included cutting the roots. I’m just hoping I can continue to keep it healthy after causing trauma.UPDATE: I added the last pic after 3 months of pruning dead stems, getting rid of moldy dirt twice and dealing with two infestations of some small black bugs with wings (possibly fungus gnats). Not sure how much longer I’ll have the plant.FINAL UPDATE: It died and I even got rid of the planter because of the bugs. Money wasted.

Raphis Palms Are A Bit Tricky, But The Most...
Important factor for keeping them alive is CONSISTENT WATERING. If you don't water them regularly and/ or expose the beautiful leaves of this extraordinary classy palm to direct sunlight, thereby resulting in sunburned leaf tips that will turn brown and slowly weaken the plant, inviting infestations by mealy bugs & other pests from which the plant is unlikely to recover. Palms will often look perfectly fine until it's too late to salvage them, but this one in particular is well worth the extra effort to learn to successfully grow in the best area available in your home.Indirect and low light situations in combination with consistent watering - do NOT permit the soil to dry out - and occasional pruning to maintain its graceful appearance are the best strategy for keeping your Lady Palm alive and growing. Keep in mind - and this is true of most palms - that their preference for sandy soils (I suggest buying "Play Sand" on Amazon and adding it to your soil mix at 30%. 30% refined peat, 20% coconut coir, small charcoal pieces, a portion of mineral chips like those used in bonsai mixes, worm castings and perhaps some top soil will provide all the nutrients necessary to ensure the long-term beauty of your palm. These are relatively slow growing, so best not to add tons of fertilizer and definitely do NOT use pre-made mixes. No matter what plant or plant family they're supposedly meant to benefit, they are primarily composed of peat moss and perlite, when there is no equivalent for actual sand. Commercial mixes do not contain it with the exception of one expensive brand succulent mix.If you tend to forget to water until plants wilt, your palms will not live long. Alternatively, best not to allow them to soak in water. You can buy a deep saucer, run the nylon cord used in self-watering pots through a soil barrier (shelf liner, screen repair tape lining the bottom of the sleeve pot and then two of the sleeve's one to eight holes, leaving both ends long enough to reach the bottom of the saucer. Next use a piece of Styrofoam split in half to raise the pot's bottom 1" and balance it above the base of the saucer. Water thoroughly once or twice a week - often enough to keep the soil semi-moist, empty if the water in the saucer gets gross (charcoal chips will extend the time before it requires changing, approximately once a month). I received a fairly large palm too large for self-watering pot's, but it might be worth getting one just to see the best way to approach making your own pots and mixes.Sevin Dust mixed into repotting mixes kills most pests that hide until it's too late.

Shockingly painless transport
I’ve never ordered a live plant before so I was worried but it showed up beautifully wrapped, perfectly contained and healthy. It’s lasted several months which is also a big deal for me.

Well packaged healthy palm!
The kentia palm came very well packaged and very healthy . It looks beautiful. I was a bit worried when I ordered it in early April but it was great out of the box and has held up. Love the kentia palm and highly highly highly recommend American Plant Exchange

Came in great shape, but you need to replant when it arrives
When the plant arrived and I pulled it out of its box, it looked really good. Green, healthy, everything you'd want. I gave it some water immediately and set it up in a good window for it. I downloaded the app that was advertised in the box too, Greg, which told me and reminded me to water it at regular intervals. However, within a couple of weeks, I noticed the plant was not doing well. Its leaves were browning and becoming crisp or brittle and I realized that basically none of the water I was giving it was being retained by the soil. I went out and got a bag of cactus, palm, and citrus soil, replanted it, and eventually trimmed off the leaves that were not recovering and it's doing better now. We'll see how long it takes for it to move past the "recovery" stage and back to its "growth" stage.tl;dr: Replant your lady palm in new soil as soon as it arrives unless you want it to start dying.

Impressed
I was quite worried with what I would receive but I'm very happy with the size and quality I got for the price. I looked hard locally to get one of these and the closest ones available was half-hour away at more than triple the price. It was well packed and arrived quickly. It looks healthy and well branched with new shoots emerging. Thank you for for making this available and at an affordable price!Updating review after 5 months:I would subtract half of a star if there was that option. This is because there were a lot of little worms in the soil. They drain out each time I water, though there are less and less now. I don’t think it’s affecting the health of the plant as far as I can tell.
