Great quality, low price varmint scope
Ok, first thing you have to do is realize that scopes and glass of today in the cheapest brands are better than most top end scopes of 20 or even 15 years ago. Do lives depend on the shot you are about to take? If so, you are not shopping on Amazon for a scope but your agency is issuing you what you need... Therefore, Leupold glass and Nightforce are great if you think that type of quality is "needed" nut with it comes the price tag. This Weaver scope has amazing clarity, provides 30mm tube (better light transmission, allows more adjustments, more rigidity for accuracy), illuminated BDC reticle and tactical turrets. This scope is everything (and more) that the working man with real-life financial considerations needs. I mounted to my 5.56 precision for varmint. It has a critical eye relief of 3.15 to 3.75 inches, however I dont see this as bad because it forces me to be consistent in my cheek weld, therefore accuracy is improved. The reticle is plenty dark enough to see against usual backgrounds in typical outdoors. The Illum ret is great for low light (usual coyote times) or if you have that IR forward mount night vision in your plans. Weaver has a Lifetime Warranty to original purchaser, so any issues are quickly and easily fixed. The BDC reticle has 6 aiming points- cross point (100), four horizontal lines (200-500) and a distinct break between the reticle and the post (600). There is no distance within the effective range of my caliber (5.56x45 launching 75BTHP Hornady Superformance) that I dont have a quick aim reference point. It has clarity at the edges, no blur, side focus paralax AND focusing eyebox. I could not find another scope with these features without jumping into the $1k mark! This little baby is $270 at the highest sellers, $225 on here! I have a Leupold gold ring (2-7x33) on my .22 squirrel gun and buddy shoots a Nightforce 5.5-22x50. The view through this is the same as the Leupy and the Nightforce appears only brighter BUT it has much larger objective so it gathers more light. I can not see spending the money on either of those brands again with what I am getting here. The common hunter / shooter will never try the limitations this is capable of, let alone need the reliablity and ruggedness of the high end companies.

Eye relief is terrible......
Took chance ordering this scope after reading reviews about eye relief. Unfortunately they were correct. Usually the eye relief is decent on most 3 power scopes. You get decent amount field view without having to hold ur head just perfect, not the case with this scope. A slight head shift and picture totally disappears into the unforgiving black Abyss. This is fine for shooting paper, but totally unacceptable for field use. Most 3x12 scopes we're designed to be multipurpose. You have enough low end to aquire a target fairly quickly in a close shot that presents itself and you have enough high end to take your time on stationary long shots. Like I said, not the case with this one. Not many bargain scope companies can actually build a good 3x12. Great quality 3x9s and 4x16s are everywhere. There are even a decent amount of 4x12s, but building a great all around 3x12 with good glass, good eye relief in a 30mm tube, side focus that's also illuminated seems non existent unless you want to spend couple paychecks......

Great for small, low recoil rifles
Does not handle the recoil of a .300 Weatherby Mag, but I love the Ballistic-X rectile.

great scope at this price
The weaver kaspa is a nice scope for the price, clear optics and seems to be solid adjustments. It looks a little on the cheap side and mine had some loose debree inside of the scope, that actually wound up on the inside of the lense for a few shots. but that problem corrected itself (after a few more shots). This scope offers alot of options for a scope at this price point and everything works very well. if you like function this scope is for you, and if the debree becomes an issue I am sure that weaver will take care of the problem. My rifle is also shooting sub .5" groups with this scope, so there doesn't seem to be a precision issue. Only time will tell about reliability.

NOT 1" this is a 30mm tube!
I was a little upset since I had ordered Burris PEPR 1" cantilever mounts with the belief the weaver had a 1” tube, but I drove up to Lanco Tactical in Elizabethton, PA (great store by the way) and picked up the 30mm PEPR-QD. But I blame Amazon not the scope; in fact, typically a 30mm allows more light so I guess the tube represents a pro more than a con. This Weaver has a critical eye relief at around 3.5" so this is not CQB at all. AND the scope is a little heavy. BUT... Despite doing a lot of research, I couldn’t find a better “SPR/MK12” 5.56 scope for the price. I looked at the P223 and M223. Their BDC reticle disappears in low light, and the "mil-dots" are so small you'll be looking for them more than the target. The sales rep at Bass Pro said he couldn’t even see the mil-dots. This scope has a better reticle and its $260 LESS than the M223. Like the Nikon scopes, the weaver has a second plane reticle, so the BDC stays the same size all the way through the range, WHICH is 3 power OVER the P223. Oh and unlike the Nikons (and many others for that matter) this has an illuminated reticle. The UTG/Leapers have illuminated reticles and mil-dots as well, but this Weaver has a much clearer image throughout the zoom.

Junk
Scope is junk. You have to have your eye right on the scope to get a full view. Move just a hair and it black's out. I've got another weaver scope I bought at the same time and it won't shoot two shots in the same place. And that's with a bench vice. Last weaver product's I buy. Out about 500 for the pair.

Good glass, and bright, adjustable illumination.
Good glass, but the battery compartment cap didn't seem durable, so returned it.
