Hon Tsuyu is basically extracted bonito and japanese niboshi sardine oil mixed with soy sauce. It's used as a soup base for noodles such as Udon, Soba and Somen. It can be served hot or cold. Refrigerate after opening. We offer premium quality Nonbon brand imported from Japan (picture above is Kikkoman brand).

Great taste, super easy to use.
I agree with all the other top reviews. This is a great product as a quick and very satisfying soup base. I have not tried it as a dipping sauce base, but I expect it's also excellent. Don't expect it to taste like a top-notch soup from a 4-star Japanese restaurant, but it is remarkably flavorful and well balanced for something that is a convenience product. The dilution guide on the bottle is about right; don't over-do it in soup; 1:6 dilution is good. I have used with ramen and will be buying more when I run low on this bottle.

NOT Tsuyu!
I thought i was ordering Tsuyu; while I don't dislike the flavor of this base, it is NOT what I thought I was ordering based on the title and description. Per picture, what I received was "Kaori Shiro" which has a very distinctive smokey flavor to it. Like I said, it's not bad, but it's not what I wanted or thought I was ordering.

Great Soup Base Product
My granddaughter loves udon and ramen noodle soups. I bought this for her and she loves it. I do too. I now make udon noodle soup regularly. It has a salty, fishy taste that tastes far better than it sounds. Everyone who tries my soups love it and I have given away several bottles to family members. If you want an authentic soup base that is not miso only then I recommend you try this product. You can dilute it as directed or alter it as you desire. Great for any Asian-style soup. Enjoy.

Everything Asian base
A quarter cup with water for ramen, quick squeeze when making bok choy or even mix in with scrambled eggs! It’s like Asian flavor salt and sweet in one. Prob a lot of salt so I make sure to not add any extra if I’m cooking

A basic and go to flavoring for Japanese cooking
For my personal use in cooking, it does very well. My mother used it to cook, too. It is better than the powder base. Glad I got it but suspect it is more expensive than my oriental supermarket but more convenient due to vivid challenges.

Not What I Expected
I should have read the ingredient list before purchasing. It wasn’t vegan; I tossed it.

Great for noodles, just as good for cooking in jus.
Among the several brands available in Japan. I like this the most. A noodle shop owner friend of mine basically agreed with me, only insisting his is better. I use it as a part of seasoning suit or as a main seasoning.
