Norse Gods and Goddesses: Guide to Understanding Scandinavian Deities and the Viking Religion

This book is nothing more a sexist piece of YouTube sourced garbage. The author refused to write more than four pages about any one goddess including Frigg, goddess of all goddesses. Even then, he depicts her as a battered housewife who is sad and lonely without Odin. Beyond that he talks about how Odin bore 3 sons with 3 different women, but then when he refers to Frigg's "lust" for Odin's brothers he refers to how that shows that gods and goddess's are "imperfect". I requested a full refund, I refuse to let this author have my money.

This book is a pretty quick read but is a great introduction to Norse gods and goddesses. I do like how each section focuses on one god or goddess. There was a lot of information I already knew but some I did not. I loved how actually references were out into the book. I highly recommend to someone just starting out but doesn’t want to get in over their heads just yet.

This book is fairly structured with mostly neutral interpretations of it's sources. It is a good book to learn basic attributes of the Norse Gods. It's easy to read and study from, and a good starting point to learn about the Norse Gods. One of it's downsides is a few of the entries are hard to follow.

I really enjoy learning about the norse culture. I've pieced several parts of the puzzle together but this book really placed everything in perspective. I've learned alot about several of the norse gods and found a few new ones. It's a great read and very well written.

It's a great book to give info on the deities as well as mythology, but it doesn't give the stories in chronological order rather by deity and I found the wording was a tad hard to follow. Definitely had to break it down to make sense of it

Very concise and well written in that it's easy for an American, like me, with little experience to dive into exploring and learning about the Norse pantheon.Highly recommended.

Thank you for this. It was a very interesting read, getting to know who the pantheon is in Norse mythology & some of the stories of their deeds etc.

This is very basic, it's small/thin, and doesn't cover as much as I hoped. It is accurate info that the author researched as best as possible. It is good for beginners.
