this is very expensive vs most other loose guayusa tea on amazon.the visual on amazon seems willfully misleading.amazon website displays the bag next to other companies offering of loose leaf guayusa and since they don't show the quantity , (unlike the others), unless you carefully look at, or consider the per oz price, you would think it is a competitive price...it is not fresher or more flavorful than others.. but is 2x+ the price

Clean, good quality
Guayusa tea is a caffeinated herbal beverage commonly consumed in South America. It is getting popular here in the states. I follow the usual instructions that I steep the leaves in hot boiling water for 7 minutes (depending on how dark you like). The taste is quite mild, smooth, and a little creamy. It is not the consistency is creamy. It just feels that way. It has caffeine in it that provides mental alertness without negative side effects including jitters or a post-caffeine "crash." It also has antioxidants and polyphenols.The company, Fermentaholics, is known for Kombucha. I didn't make a Kombucha out of it. It could be a great drink prepared that way. You may want to try it. Or simply make a cup of tea out of it.

A very nice Guayusa
I can't speak to the health benefits of Guayusa, although I drink it regularly; medical research is needed for that. I can tell you that this is a very good example. It's got a pleasant smell, a mild tea-like flavor, and no excessive tannins or acidity. It brews up well in about five minutes and doesn't stew if you leave it too long. The caffeine kick is moderate, less than coffee. It's clear the product has been mildly fermented. The strong vegetal taste of the untreated leaves is muted.
