Love this series
Love this series — have since I read the first one. Main characters delightful, good character development, gentle mysteries even if there is a murder (usually not a murder in these stories). Now sharing with a friend who loves them too! We’re waiting for Nancy Atherton to write and publish #26!

Friends, new and old, work together to solve a mystery.
This was one of the author's best stories in the series. The thing I like most about this series is the fact the author does not rely on a murder to make the story a good one. Instead she leads you through the story with her main character, Lori Shepard, who is wonderfully human and who makes a few mistakes now and again. Once all is revealed, both the reader and Lori the character, are rueful about their assumptions, yet glad to realize they were wrong. This story is very good because it helps bring to light what people had to go through, who were in love but from different worlds. I highly recommend this book.

Aunt Dimity stories are good
Sometimes, I just want a gentle story with a bit of a twist. These books fit the bill. A chance discovery leads Lori and her friends into a mystery from the 1800s.

A delightful mystery with no murders to solve
You may wonder how a mystery with no murders can be intriguing. But this book has achieved it. While I have read all the books in the series prior to this one, it had been a while since I read the last one. I had put off reading another one because I thought it would be slow-paced since there was no murderer is to be found. But I was wrong. The easy-going dialogue, the friendship between characters, the just right blend of action and vivid descriptions of the village and its festivities, made this an ideal cozy mystery. I had forgotten how charming the series is. While there is no murder to solve, there is a mystery. You will find yourself intrigued with wanting to know more.

Joy to (this fictional) World!
There is something magical in the warmth and joy the Aunt Dimity series evokes : so Christmas-like! Although the village of Finch is experiencing drab and dreary weather and an outbreak winter colds it doesn't take long for Atherton to transform it all into a gentle merry place with her goodhearted characters and some pleasant sleuthing. Lori, who is the serie's chief "detective" and gossip, and cookie fancier is atypically laid-back and responsible and for once is not jumping to a billion ill-founded concusions when she and some other guests at a storm bound Christmas party guests make a remarkable discovery in a hidden room. All the regular characters and a few from previous novels make their appearance. Frankly, the folks from the past, some unexpected happy events for long standing characters, and Lori's new found restraint gave me the uneasy feeling that this would be a good way for Nancy Atherton to end the series. I hope this isn't so! Hete's to many more, happy, enjoyable, peaceful hours with our fictional friends!

Another wonderful cosy love story
While I'm still not certain of the Jack and Bree storyline, the resulting love stories explored in this novel are sweet and heartwarming - just right for a Christmas time book, suitable for reading any time of the year! New and old loves are explored, history is taught, and family and friends are celebrated. Definitely best read as part of the series as the history of the characters gives a depth that would otherwise be missed and your reading experience would be poorer for the lack. But for those of us who've been enjoying since the beginning, I found this one to be a strong entry in the series (I've read it twice already today and am considering starting it again tonight.)

Delightful cozy mystery series
This was the first experience I had of the Aunt Dimity mysteries and it inspired me to start collection others in the series. It was just the right mix of mystery and coziness that felt just right for me. I now have three others and looking forward to acquiring more. I find it is fun to read cozy mysteries in order so that I can see how the repeat characters are fleshed out with each successive novel. If you are looking for graphic, gory details and horrific violence then this is not for you. Suitable for all ages. High recommended!
