ShoyeidoShoyeido Sandalwood, 35 CT

I’ve got a lot of different types of incense and I seek this one out repeatedly. It’s a really rich and hearty scent that you can smell it from the first floor to the second floor. It’s fully immersive and just feels so very good to have it burning in your home.

This is a wonderful incense - All of the qualities that make Shoyeido's other offerings special, in a familiar, traditional scent. No bamboo stick, solid incense that lights perfectly, and a subtlety and evenness that elevates the experience.After 5 attempts at ordering these and 2 other varieties from Amazon, all resulting in mashed soft envelope arriving with crushed incense, I went to Shoyeido's Website and placed the order there. The order was packed all together in one rigid box extremely well-protected, sent out fast. Ordered in Monday evening, had them safely in my hands by Thursday. So the apparent speed advantage of Amazon was an illusion, since 5 crushed packages and the ensuing returns took about a month, and if the total for 4 bundles of incense was a few dollars more from Shoyeido, it was very well worth it.Amazon just can't seem to get these to you safely, although the vendors themselves were speedy in handling and crediting the returns. The returns wouldn't have been necessary if the product has been packed right in the first place. Like I said; it's solid incense, no stick, but most of the crushed packages would've messed up the dipped bamboo type incense anyway (though it might not have broken them clear through, except the one that was practically bent in half).If you're familiar with the idea of a value-added service? This was the opposite.

I have always bought cheap incense sticks because I didn't know any better. I began taking better care of myself due to health problems so I now research WHAT I put into and onto my body and yes, even in my lungs even though I have never been a smoker of anything (:I found out that cheap incense sticks contain toxic chemicals that contribute to lung & breathing problems so I thought I would try a better quality to see if I could tell a difference. I went to the Shoyeido Company's website and researched their products, read reviews and discovered that Japanese incense is usually the best quality because it is used in their religious practices.I ordered the Vanilla and Sandalwood fragrances and they are a little smaller than cheap incense sticks but the Shoyeido incense covers the entire stick and lacks the extra inch that you hold it with so I had to buy a plate style incense holder with a hole in the center so the incense sticks could burn standing straight up.I burned the Vanilla and immediately noticed a soft vanilla fragrance throughout the room. I was VERY surprised that I didn't smell the strong smoke scent that is almost overrwhelming with cheap incense that usually irritates my throat. I am extremely happy with the Shoyeido brand incense and without a doubt can tell a HUGE difference!!I also feel better about reducing the number of dangerous chemicals in my home. I have actually eliminated toxic household cleaners as well since there is NOTHING that can not be cleaned with either vinegar, baking soda, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or tea tree oil and there CHEAP, fantastic recipes for DIY Natural Cleaners on you tube and on Pinterest PLUS by refusing to buy pre-bottled toxic cleaners in stores I am reducing the number of chemicals CREATED by an unethical industry that has literally poisoned ENTIRE towns and caused irreparable health damage to citizens all over the world.Please recycle!!

I was drawn to the sandalwood by SHOYEIDO by a reviewer on some other sandalwood incense product who recommended this one in particular. I can see why this brand is well-liked by incense enthusiasts, because the smoke is nice and mild making it perfect for indoor use, and the scents are not overpowering. I'm subtracting a star from this sandalwood type though because it smells... barely like sandalwood. I'd describe it as closer to cinnamon or vanilla. Maybe it's the benzoin listed in the ingredients. It's quite a pleasant smell still, just not exactly matching the description. I will definitely keep burning it though.

These are super long compared to others I purchased a few years go (this brand) but the sticks are so long that you have to be sure to almost have it standing straight up in a smaller holder or the ashes will fall on your table or counter. This one burned for about 25 minutes. I'm going to look for a holder that can accommodate the length.

I liked the aroma; I did not notice how strong it was but my wife noticed right away when she entered my meditation room.

Seriously, there are no contenders for this incense. The burn is fragrant and light. I found the incense originally on Kawai E when I attended a tour of the Japanese alters that are on North Shore. I buy nothing but this brand of incense

Diese Sticks sind teuer und sie riechen übel, nicht nach Sandelholz.Ich bin Sandelholzfan seit vielen Jahren und kenne, schätze und nutze (andere!) Shoyeido Räucherstäbchen seit Jahren.Aber DIESE Sorte von Shoyeido ist riecht einfach nur übel.Das ist definitiv nicht Sandelholzgeruch.Geld direkt zu verbrennen riecht wahrscheinlich sogar besser.

Very disappointed in the aroma. Not even close to real sandalwood. I won't be a repeat customer.

Smells really good, easy to break though.

The smell is very subtle and nice. only downfall is that one stick is not sufficient to fill up the whole house with even subtle scent.

Great scent and almost no smoke. I am very happy with this and will definitely order again. Well done!
