It does the job, and does it well. It isn't supposed to be a high-tech hearing aid ... it amplifies sound. Using it on the lowest setting, i am able to hear well in all situations, including settings like restaurants. It will obviously amplify ALL sound around you, but you can hear a conversation clearly despite the background sound. The charging system is simple and easy to use, and a charge lasts as advertised, 10 to 12 hours. It's definitely worth the price.

I just got the unit a few days ago and it appears to work well for me. The unit amplifies all surrounding ambient sounds so I almost feel overwhelmed by all the sounds coming in. I can now hear sounds that I did not hear before. I always used to ask my wife to turn the volume up on the TV as we watched programs. Now I hear the TV programs well without raising the TV's volume. In fact I have to ask my wife occasionally to turn the TV volume down as it sounds too loud. On the negative side, there is some feedback background noise present always when using the unit. Also,the unit arrived without any warranty and no information on how to change the rechargeable battery or where to send it in for repair,if needed. It is not easy to have to get used to having the earpiece in your ear for long periods of time. On the positive side, I hear better when I am using the unit but not all voice sounds are always clear. So I occasionally still miss what was said but much less than before I was using the amplifier unit. For the price -$44 - including shipping, it is a wonderful bargain.

Seller sent product when promised and it arrived in good condition. Unfortunately, I will need to send this product back. The volume, even at level one, is simply too loud when the wearer is speaking. The product fit my 84 year old father's ear (six size choices in the package) and has simple controls - on/off and volume - and the rechargeable feature is very nice and simple to use. But the device is just too loud when the person who wears it speaks because it amplifies his voice also. I wish that was not the case because even on the lowest setting it helped my father hear the TV and conversations.

The volume is adjustable, but even at the lowest setting it's very loud--too loud for my elderly mother. I believe a person would need to have quite serious hearing loss for this amplifier to be useful. The rechargeable feature has a lot of potential, so it's a real shame that the manufacturer botched the volume control so badly.There are several devices for sale at Amazon (and elsewhere) that appear to be exactly the same, but with different brand names and prices. If you want to try one out, you'd be wise to go for the cheapest.

If you need help hearing any specific frequencies these probably won't help. I found that with one amplifier in, everything was louder, as expected, however the background noise was amplified more than anything. I could not make out words, hear the birds better, or listen to the radio any lower than before. In fact, in the car, the ClearHear popped and crackled, even on its lowest setting. I was optimistic after reading other reviews, but was sorely disappointed. I made the effort to try them in multiple situations but found no place where they helped, even $50 worth. I will be visiting an audiologist, which I was hoping to delay with this product.

Great price for what it does. I have a viral condition that causes hearing loss and I have been told it cannot be corrected with a hearing aid, so I thought that I would try this. My hearing loss is such that I have to turn up the television a bit louder than normal. Also, in situations where there are multiple sound distractions, hearing normal conversation can be challenging, such as in a crowded restaurant or at the mall. It does what it says it does, amplifies sound. It works well for me at home when I want to hear the television without having to turn it up louder than normal. That said, though, I have had to mute the sound on our grandfather clock because the of the chimes or if the dog barks, or anyone coughs or sneezes close by, it can be startling. So in my case, it works best in a moderately quiet situation. It charges well and fairly quickly and is wireless. It does best when the earpiece fits snug against your ear, so if you wear glasses like I do, you may have to get creative to get the best results. The ear bud has several different pieces so that you can get a comfortable fit in your ear.

I am very pleased with the product. It works well for listening to TV, my reason for getting it. It does have a lot of background noise, if you use it as a hearing aid. In my living room very little background noise.

I bought this for my husband and he now loves it works good he has about 40% hearing loss in right ear. It works and now we can keep the tv, stereo down and not blow my ears out. I put on the charger at night and he is good to go for the day. Just find the right ear piece for your ear they send a few with it. This is well worth it and especially if you cannot afford the price of hearing aids. I would recommend this for those who wanta in expensive way of hearing. Thank you,
