Prevents Overheating
I had issues with my Sony A7r4 overheating after varying amounts of time being used as a webcam. With this dummy battery that no longer happens, and I've been able to have meetings all day without incident.

Does the trick for Sony A7R IV
It’s done the trick so far. Works in my Sony A7RIV, although there’s a warning prompt from the camera that it’s an unsupported accessory.Build quality seems OK. Adequate functionality for a fraction of the price of the “official” Sony charger.

Works perfect on my A7III
I had no problems using it, no heating on the unit, just buy it with confidence.

No more running out/ draining of batterys.
I was draining the battery while using video. This battery portion of this charger w cord is very convenient to use instead of batteries.

40 hours a week of use - no issues so far (1 month review) + (1 year Review)
-1 star for packaging being suboptimal in the looks department. The box/marketing looks cheaply made. But I won't take that off the actual review.Actual product, ya it works. No over heating no issues with it turning on or off. So I can't complain. It looks pretty well done for the price.I use it for work as my webcam is 720p and I have to do meetings and client appointments every day so it is basically plugged in 24/7 for the last month. I do turn it off (camera) when not in use. So about 40 hours a week for the last 5 weeks it has been plugged in.Would I recommend it ? Yes I would it works the product looks good. The company who actually makes the parts is someone I know, the rebranded/reseller no idea but it also looks like they do this kind of stuff so in the business.Sony A7III camera in the photo.(Update - 2022/05/23): Been using it on and off for the last while. No issues, no concerns with overheating or anything. Plugged in and forgotten about sometimes for months. My camera still works and I am looking at one for my Canon 80D as I want to actually use my camera outside again :D There are some reviews about bricking newer models cameras [for the canon varieties such as the new EOS R camera] but I am comfortable with hooking up my older cameras. If I did get lets say a newer A7iv or newer model I would not want to hook them up without more research. Plus I doubt they will use the same exact battery anyways. I still feel comfortable recommending this for the A7III specifically but would recommend you take the time and review your camera and your camera battery/power requirements.(Jan 2023 Update: Still plugged in...24/7. Still works fine and no issues for my A7III which is now a 4k webcam lol. I did get an A7IV but I haven't tired it with it. With another user saying it bricked their device...I would proceed with caution. I have 4x batteries so I will stick with batteries for now for my A7IV but works perfectly with my A7iiiApril 2023 Update: Purchased a 2nd unit and tested the voltage on both. Older unit output 8.15~ volts while the newer unit gave out 8.35~ volts. Both still within the fully charged 2 cell lithium battery of 8.4v but curious that there is a bit of a difference. 2nd unit (8.35v) works on the old A7III, will probably try the older unit on the A7IV as it has a lower voltage and probably lower chance to fry my A7IV.
