I have finally found the perfect Garmin mount for my needs!
I just received mine so take what I say with a grain of salt but it seems like I have finally found the perfect Garmin mount for my needs. I will update this review if and when any issues comes up, although based on the other reviews, I'm not really anticipating any. I've had my Garmin Edge 1000 since it first came out 3 years ago. The Garmin mount that came with it is fine even though I did not like how high it placed the Edge 1000 relative to the handlebars. The major shortcoming of the Garmin mount for me is it doesn't allow charging while the device is mounted. At least once a year, I always contemplate if I should join a century event with 6 mountains. A similar event I joined last year only had 3 mountains and the Edge 1000's battery died with about 5 miles left to the finish. Luckily, I also had my Fenix 3 recording the ride so I didn't loose any data. I do not have the Fenix 3 anymore, and although I have 2 Edge 1000 that I can switch during the long ride when one unit's battery is running low, I'd rather not have to deal with the hassle of carrying 2 Garmin computers and the hassles of having to stitch 2 workouts on the computer. I want to be able to upload it immediately after so that I can talk about the ride and stats with my friends while we eat the post ride spaghetti. I'm so glad that K-Edge redesigned the XL mounts so that the Edge 1000's USB port is not blocked anymore allowing charging from a power bank during the ride. I love how low and forward it positions the computer compared to the Garmin mount.K-Edge's earlier models blocking the USB port was only one reason why I didn't buy a K-Edge mount a long time ago. The other reason was the reviews about the mount breaking the tabs on Garmin computers. This wasn't helped by the fact that the very early K-Edge mounts were all metal with no plastic insert. I also think that the plastic that were used on the Edge 500 and 510 were the best to begin with. Many people say that the issue is a metal mount would chew through a plastic Garmin computer, but I don't think this is entirely the issue. Garmin designed the 2 locking tabs in the mount to flex back when the computer is twisted on and off the mount. If those locking tabs within the mount are too stiff (such as if it's made of metal) and won't readily flex backwards, twisting the computer on and off will put a force pushing the computer out of the mount. This puts unnecessary stress on the computer's mounting tabs. K-Edge seems to have learned the lesson and claims that they have done a lot research on the plastic material of the mount insert. Indeed, the K-Edge has similar flex of the locking tab compared to the Garmin mount. The amount of force required to twist the computer on and off is also very similar compared to the Garmin mount.

Better than any other mount for your Garmin, at least as far as I've found
This hinged mount is just that little bit smoother than the original, two bolt mounted version, both in installation and looks. These mounts are superior to others I've tried. When mounted next to the stem it positions my Garmin Edge 1000 perfectly centered out in front of the stem with just enough wiggle room for easy attachment, pretty smooth. They mount rigidly without flexing and take up little space on your handlebar leaving more room for a headlight mount or other accessory. I like that they come in different colors but have only bought black ones, ha. I guess that's my inner Johnny Cash coming out.

Sturdy, well made, but incompatible with the Garmin Charge Power Pack
Very good in all respects, well made, aluminum, etc. Only issue is that the underside of the mount point is one-piece aluminum, and can't be removed and replaced with the adapter required to mount the Garmin Charge Power Pack. I wish K-Edge would make one of these that's compatible with the power pack too.

Easy to install, used for MagicShine RN1200 light
So easy to install, and perfectly fits the MagicShine RN1200 light. No problems so far even through rough city street riding.

Love the K-Edge device and I own quite a few.
I have a lot (ugh!) of these. They are cool. they work great. And they are pricey. I have one for each of my 5 bikes. The problem is, I now have a larger Garmin device that none of them fit. The XL device works with a Garmin 1000 and the new 1030 which I happen to be lucky enough to have. I have had the original versions of the K-Edge that didn't have the plastic insert and a crash did break a tab off my Garmin 500 Edge. Since then I have had the misfortune of going over the handles of my mountain bike with a K-Edge that has the plastic inserts and the insert did it's job and broke away saving my Garmin 810 Edge from damage. The insert is just a couple dollars with shipping and I was back in business.

Fits the Garmin 1030 with ease
Fits the new Garmin Edge 1030 well. The hinge is a lot better than the two bolt model that came earlier. I had to tighten the arm after a couple of uses, as it started to come loose. Ended up using loctite to make sure they didn’t loosen again. I was able to take the camera mount from my older model and put it on this one. Wish it were less expensive.

A great addition for an Edge 1000
There is a lot of good write up here, but one of the things is really handy is that you can plug a power supply (mini usb from a battery lashed to the stem) in to an Edge 1000 - which is especially useful if you spend as much time doing 100 miles as I do.Excellent build, fits well, solid construction. Sits below the height of the bars, so in theory gives a more aero position. Can't fault it.

Gut und Schick!
Auch wenn der Preis etwas hoch ausfällt; aber der Edge 1000 sitzt nun mittig vor dem Lenker, und ist dadurch besser ablesbar!
