Old, opened battery. Is it new? Who knows...
I ordered one of these batteries and it came in a small box, not in any kind of Ryobi packaging or sealed etc.The manufacture date was from mid 2016, so far from new. When asking the question from the seller, it seems they split the kits up apparently to see separate. For me personally though, it went back. I've no idea if its unused or not, fake or not etc. and would rather have an item i can be confident in than save a few quid.

Fits older Blue Tools :-)
Purchased this battery along with charger (Ryobi RC18120 18V ONE+ Compact Charger) at the same time due to not being compatible with earlier charger. Fits the earlier (Blue Tools eg. Drill Model CDI-1800, + Jigsaw) needed new batteries as original ones that came with drill & jigsaw combo set stopped holding their charge. Haven't used it in earnest but all looking promising, took ~ 30 mins to fully charge the battery from being on 1bar residual charge that was in battery from delivery.

Battery packs are rubbish
Ryobi do make really good power tools and the Plus One range is very useful. However, it all relies on having good battery packs. That last - not only with power to use but last the life of the tool itself. This is sadly not the case. The drill, the saw, the whatever becomes a doorstop when the battery can’t hold its charge. That’s the main only failure of Ryobi.I have loads of their tools. And loads of their batteries. All the tools work fine. But I have 6 ( yes six ) dead battery packs. At £70 a piece ? £420 down the toilet. Not good Mr Ryobi .... not good at all.And even worse - they’re not remotely interested.

Fit for the job
As usual it's fair to say that I don't 'love' a battery but since this absolutely matched my expectations it would be unfair to downgrade it to a four star. It is obviously big and fairly heavy but one would expect that. It is also very powerful and powers the Ryobi site fan for at least 8 hours on low setting and probably more like 12 hours. Haven't needed it for drilling but I expect you could get a LOT done with it.

Required
I love the Ryobi one+ range, have multiple gardening tools available from them and I’m slowly replacing my tools when they wear out to join the range. The simplicity of the plug and play is fantastic and the tooling is of high quality. I already had 1 of these batteries and while the charge time is great, it doesn’t quite cover all my garden jobs (30 foot long Laurel to cut) and a reasonable sized front/back garden to mow. 2 is more than sufficient. They are very expensive though and there are cheaper alternatives available, while they’re not recommended for use, if I require another one should the lifespan on these batteries start to diminish I’d be tempted to try them owing to the cost.

A powerful and long life battery.
I've kind of "signed up" to the Ryobi One + concept and now have several of the garden and DIY tools. I previously bought the 18V Quickmow lawnmower which came with a 4AH battery and charger and recently bought this additional one so that I could always have one on charge. The battery life is exceptional and the charge is fairly quick. The battery has a built in "fuel guage" so that you can see how much juice you have left. Its also great in the One+ hedge cutters giving plenty of cutting power and endurance. Its a fair bit heavier than the 1.5 AH batteries and this can be noticed when used on the smaller tools such as a drill but the extra life over the smaller cells is really useful. Highly recommended and I may go for a third !

Terrible packaging, don't buy
Good battery, but this will be the last one I buy. My hands are covered in cuts because of the ridiculous plastic it is shipped in

A must for your Ryobi (compared to Ni-Cad)
Charge lasts well and is much lighter than the other 2.4Ah version I have (which came with the drill). Lithium batteries are much better than Ni-Cad as the charge lasts much longer. They keep their performance right up to the last bit of charge, unlike Ni-Cads whose performance tails off at a slower rate, losing power longer before they are ready to be re-charged.I would recommend buying two x 1.5Ah as the lighter weight makes it much easier on the hands, wrists and arms. While I consider the Ryobi range of tools is not the best quality for full-on professional use, they are pretty good for heavy DIY use. Don't forget the Lithium batterys need a special charger.
