Excellent machine once you are familiar with it
Quality engineered product with a slightly larger blade than its similar competitors. I use it for large fat 800gm sourdough loaves. Cuts beautifully and easily but the tall wide slices on the loaves from my local baker tend to flop into the handle just before they are fully cut. Some other slicers on the market have a wire loop to guide the slice past the handle but this doesn't. However I quickly realised that as soon as I see the slice is about to flop towards the handle the trick is to stop turning the handle at the 12 o' clock position and finish the slice with a few short backwards and forwards movements of the handle while contuing to gently push the loaf forwards with the other hand. This works because the serrated edge on the circular blade cuts equally efficiently in both directions. I fear I have made this sound complicated but you only have to do it once and it becomes completely natural. (Obviously this trick would be unnecessary for for normally shaped loaves.) Thats why I am happy to give this product 5 stars instead of 4.

never knew it was an essential
I hate slicing bread by hand. both because im rubbish at it, and have a scar where I nearly sliced my thumb off to show for it, but also because I cant get consistent straight slices which does for my OCD. thought I would try this one, even though it was significantly more expensive than the plastic and wooden cheapo ones. its brilliant. very well made, works like a hot knife through butter, and is an indulgent (because of cost) joy to use. Only slight critique would be that on my glass work top, the feet are too sticky to move easily, but its better that way than it sliding everywhere I guess. it is ace.

A bread slicer that works
At last! A bread slicer that actually works. Bought an electric one a while back specifically because it had a bread disc but it just mangled the bread, particularly freshly baked. I tried this today for the first time on two freshly baked loaves. A beetroot sourdough and a yeasted flax loaf. Sliced perfectly. Was able to get thin slices from the sourdough which I find impossible even with a high end bread knife. In addition it is compact and stylish. Worth every penny

Would be perfect with a couple of tweaks
A quality built product with a couple of flaws. Firstly, if you’re using on most worktops, the suction cups to hold it in place don’t work, so you end up with the whole thing slipping around when you’re trying to push the bread through and turn the handle (seems ok on glass or wooden laminate worktops — terrible on vinyl). Secondly, when you’re feeding through a wider loaf, the handle gets in the way of the slice of bread that’s coming out, so you have to try and push the slice of bread back up or it gets squashed. Apart from that, it’s solid construction, easy to clean, with a great range of bread slice thicknesses available to select via the gauge. With a couple of tweaks I think this is great value for money, especially as I bake 4 loaves of sourdough every week and worry that I’ll cut myself if hand-slicing using a bread knife.

Expensive cuts!
Well it’s pricey for what it is, but it cuts like a champ, so far it’s made some great cuts of sour dough for Christmas left overs.. if you don’t mind the price tag it’s worth it!

Bad suction pads
I like it but suction pads on bottom are useless.

Sharp and effective
Terrifyingly sharp but brilliantly effective. Doesn't tear sourdough bread but, rather, creates beautiful, smooth, even slices. Great bit of kit.

Brilliant
I am sorry I did not purchase this machine months ago. It is easy to use, no pressure need to slice crispy sourdough bread. It cuts the slices beautifully with no dragging. It is an expensive item but to be able to cut bread like a hot knife through butter it’s worth every penny
