Creative Labs Webcam NX Pro

I just got the camera and I am really amazed by how good this is. Very easy installation. And unlike other people said on their reviews the tripod is a good fit for my monitor stands on top of it with no movement. It works perfectly under dim light. Focus ring is just too good and easy to work with, even though you won't need to use it cause most of the times the image shown is already very good. When I bought this camera I had myself reading all reviews from pretty much every camera in this price range. And I can confirm right now: "This is the best camera around!" Amazing! Comes with tons of software, plus a Windows XP package with Plus! Photo Story LE, Plus! Dancer LE, and amazing screen saver. Don't read anymore reviews just buy it.

I have had my camera for over 2 years and it still works great. The image quality is good and frame rate is adequate. I use it primarily for video conferencing on msn messenger with friends and family abroad. Seeing the person adds another dimension to the conversation, makes it more personal. Installation is simple, you don't need the cd as windows xp recognizes it. Now for the flaw, the stand. The stand folds to sit in 3 locations: open to sit on top of the monitor and point down, folded to sit on the table top and point up, and semi folded to sit on the screen of a laptop or lcd monitor. Although versatile the stand doesn't provide enough stability, it topples over easily as the head and cord coming from it are too heavy for the relatively narrow base. Creative should have made the base wider.Overall a great camera but needs more stability.

I bought this little webcam about a month or so ago, and the first thing that struck me was that it was almost impossible for me to get the thing to stand up; and attaching it to my laptop screen, like Creative claims you can, forget it. It was so bad, that I even used Duct Tape to keep it in place (the problem is not so much the feet, but the weight; the cord pulls the little cam because it weighs next to nothing.So, forgetting about the nuissance of getting the unit to stand up, it works pretty well other than this. The software is pretty easy to use and installed fine on my machine (Pent. 4, 200 Mhz; Win 98 SE). Also, it has integrated fine with both MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger (just make sure your software is not active when you are trying to integrate it with either IM, as the IM can't grab the video feed if the software has got it.So, I rated this unit 3 stars, not so much because of the standing issue (it has fallen from pretty high heights, and is still working ok by the way), but because of the false advertising on Creative's part, saying that it can attach to a laptop screen (the "legs" are nowhere near "springy" enough to do this) or stand upright (this is also a task).So, if you want a good webcam, and you are willing to be creative on how you make it stand up (getting an extention USB cable, using Duct Tape, etc.), this might be a good one to get, but I'd suggest doing a little more searching first.

I had an old Logitech Webcam which went bad after 4+ years of usage. Found this one on Amazon.com and also was at a good price. But after getting it and connecting it, I could see a marked difference in the picture quality and frame speed. Did not work properly in bright light conditions...had a very slow frame speed with not clear picture(yes I did adjust the lens at the front)!!! I would suggest to go with Logitech Webcams...dont waste your time and money..

Cant believe it's been so long since i have order this item!! Still didnt come in and now its going to be almost 3 months!!! So disappointed!

This is a wonderful little webcam. It sits perfectly on top of my Creative Ti2900 speakers. Resolution and refresh rate are great for this camera's price class, and the image is always bright and accurately colored.I use this camera with MSN Messenger to converse with our in-laws overseas and not for hosting a webcam or anything like that, so I can't really comment on the included software package. I can attest that this camera works flawlessly with Messenger (which is more than I can say for my router).The only downside, if you can call it that, is the microphone. In the package I received, the microphone is white, not black as shown. Also, the mic is highly directional and highly sensitive. Meaning that you need to direct it squarely toward your sound source, but not too closely, or you'll end up with a distorted sound. I find placement at about 30 inches works for conversational volume (no joke).

This is great cam for the money and honesetly, I am confused about what some people were talking about. I have a brand new sony lap top and it loaded PERFECTLY on it with no problem. I didnt have to hunt down other drivers...not sure what others are talking about. As far as the base...I like it on my lap top and on desks...i could see it breaking, but it works well other than that and is nice because it isn't permanent. The picture is clear and adjusts well to light. I use my cam a lot and ive gotten compliments on this one. As far as only 1 fps...no way. IT does have some drag though and that's why i give it 4 stars. My old cam ran faster, but i think it runs better with more light. Overall, it's worth it. You can't expect it to be perfect for the price!!! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, clear cam.
