Its working
The 5 2 plan is working for me. The book, well lets just say it has lots of ideasbut they tend to be kind of fancy. I have given up being fancy. Thats not to say there isn't a lot of greatthings in there in case you get bored. With a busy life its hard to be fancy. The 2 low calorie days I picked really simple things to make.I use a weight scale to make sure I use the right amount of chicken and using calorie counting.1 Scrambled egg with hot sauce in a low calorie tortilla wrap. (about 150 calories)Coffee black just Splenda.I drink a large (32 oz) zero calorie lemonade mix (Crystal light) skip food ,easy since I am at work. Then for dinner.Chicken tacos on one day. (Shredded chicken mixed with taco seasoning. I use 4 oz skinless chicken total )So tortilla is low calorie about 80 calories depending on what I find at the store.I toss two couple ounces of chicken 70 calories. So its ~150 cal per taco. I eat two with diet soda and I am at about 500 calories for the dayOther day Same morning and afternoon routine. Thenfrozen premixed stir fry vegetables on a pan with fresh ginger and garlic.A bag of these I get these from a local store Meijer which states 5 servings in the bag at 30 calories a serving. So thats 150 calories for the entire bag. I toss on 4 oz of shredded chicken (120 cal),which looks like a ton, a couple of tbls of soy and magic under 300 cal.I find keeping the low eat days routine helps me a lot. Not much thinking on whats to eat.Someday I may venture out into other things but this is working great for me about 2 months now.I have lost about 10lbs and it shows. The weight loss is slow which is great because I know Ican keep this going. No real desire to stuff myself on the eat days. FINALLY something thats working.Hope you find this helpful

Having tried other 5: 2 recipes, I found ...
Having tried other 5:2 recipes, I found that the calorie count Diana Clayton gave for her recipes suspiciously low. Sure enough, when I manually calculated the calories of her recipes they were more than 100 calories upwards of the calorie count given in the book. Obviously this is generally not a problem, but in the context of the 5:2 diet, this cookbook defeats its purpose.

Glad I found this!
This is perfect timing for me. I've a goal to lose weight this year so this book is very helpful. I liked the array of recipes, and found the instructions clear and concise. The recipes are easy to follow, provide the calorie information, prep and cooking time, as well as how many people each recipe serves. I noticed that many serve one - which is just perfect for me! (One thing I find frustrating with so many cookbooks is that they are mostly made for large families.)I'm looking forward to trying the recipes. Some that really interest me are the Chai Tea Smoothie, the Sesame Kale chips (I have a need for crunchy things), the scones, Corned beef hash (will be great to have a low calorie version of this dish) and the poached eggs with watercress and tomatoes (I love watercress!)I also found it especially helpful to have the recipes broken out into groups (100/200 and 300 calories). This will make it much easier to stay within my allotted intake for the day. Thanks for writing this eBook and helping those of us that need to lose weight do it and stay healthy.

More recipes please
More recipes would have been better, but I like the ones I looked at. Made a version of one of the salads last night. I find it hard to stay within the 500 cal. limit with the foods I have so will switch some to some of the items in the book. I like this one because it has measurements I am used to. I am poor with interpreting metric measurements. I also need to break these down for one person. I am not asking my husband to do this when I am the one who needs to loose the weight. Otherwise this is totally doable.

great book.
the advice given in this book fits my work schedule perfectly, five days on 2 days off. the recipes are sensible and delicious, I would not have thought low calorie meals could be so delicious, these recipes are simply ingenious. I also like the advice given on light exercise since at my age strenuous work outs are no longer what I am looking for. there are plenty of items in here that can be prepared quickly as well which is convenient. simple, easy to prepare, and delicious. this is a good book.

Perfect for calorie conscious eaters
I've heard great things about intermittent fasting. Weight loss, mental clarity, and more energy are just a few things that go along with this type of diet. For a couple of days a week, you're supposed to restrict caloric intake to 500-600 calories. This makes it a bit challenging to find meals to eat that fit this restriction. This recipe book is a great resource to go to when I'm on my fasting days. The book breaks the recipes down by calories (and subcategories of breakfast, lunch, and dinner) from 50 up to less than 300 calories. The meals are delicious (hawaiian prawns and honeyed chicken thighs with homemade slaw are a couple of my favs) and easy to put together. The book also discusses some great tips on how to make the most of the diet.

Great Recipes
I found this book to be very interesting and helpful. Most people that go on a diet and fail to follow through, seem to blame the lack of variety in their food choices or unadaptable regimens. This book however helps to eliminate those issues, since it provides several recipes (that seem very tasty), and a diet regimen that you only have to carry out twice a week. Can't ask for much more than that.If like me you're looking for a practical diet that you can realistically fit into your lifestyle, then this is a great place to start. Great guide, nice pictures, and looking forward to trying the recipes.

pretty simple recipes..could have easily googled 'low calories recipes' and that would have been the same. black and white book inside, looks more like a pamphlet, very thin and it just seems like an 'after school project'..something a jr high schooler could make. All the 5 star reviews here must be friends of the author or people who haven't ever read an actual cookbook.

Calories are actually Accurate, AND the Recipes are wonderful!
So I've purchased quite a few 5:2 diet recipe books now, and usually what I find is that either the recipes are BORING, or there is just no way in hell that the calories add up. So I always check the calories myself. Well, all of the calories of the recipes I've checked so far add up as they should. And even better, they are sooooo good. A previous reviewer stated that the recipe for the 'Caramelized Pear and Swiss Omelette' wasn't accurate, but unfortunately he must not have noticed that recipe serves 4 people, not 1! So the only thing I would say is make sure you check the servings. Most of the recipes serve 1, but a few of them serve 2 or 4. Anyway, this is my go to 5:2 diet book. Love, it, Love it, Love it!

Fantastic diet with great results.
A good choice of meals and important information regarding this fantastic diet.Even though the fast day meals were tough, it s well worth pursuing as the results have been the best I and my mum has seen. This has shifted more pounds than any other diet, my skin looks better, my mind more focused.By sticking to the diet and buying only the needed ingredients, this cut our food bill in half and our household waste! We don't think about food and crave things like we used to, actually it barely crosses our mind! This book was good for meals for the price we paid.I would highly recommend this diet and this book but do talk to your doctor first if you have health issues xx

A tasty and easy to follow guide
This 5:2 diet book is well structured, full of colourful pictures and an easy read for anyone wanting to understand and try the 5:2 diet system. It contains a bunch of tasty, easy-to-follow and make recipes - some are for breakfast, others lunch and dinner.Didn't believe that I could have a delicious breakfast of about 100 calories. But it is possible and this book shows you how.

This book gave me the kick start I needed to ...
This book gave me the kick start I needed to try out the 5:2 diet. It explains how the diet works, gives you some tips on helping to ensure success, lists some basic foods that are 50 calories & under & gives you ideas for meals. They've tried hard to include high nutritional value in the suggested meals. The emphasis is on planning ahead to achieve your goals & that's what this book aims to do.

Very good diet plan and recipes
Downloaded the kindle addition, impressed with the diet plan concept the introduction quickly explains the process and this is very easy to follow. The diet is a healthy lifestyle choice you can customise to your own personal requirements without loosing the main effects of following the detailed guide.I like the calorie guide showing a list of popular foods and snacks with a value however this is not another calorie counting diet plan it;s a list to assist you when planning meals. The best part of the book is the recipes it gives excellent suggestions for meals and snacks, the recipes are not extreme food buying but regular items you probably have around the house or easily added to your next shop.

Review of 2.5 Diet book.
I did not find this book as useful as I thought I would. Most of the 2.5 diets tend to focus on explanations about the diet itself. I really would have liked more actual diets, particularly for the fasting days. It would also be useful for most of these books to give the calorie values for most commonly used ingredients .I already we the rationale behind 2.5 dieting.

Interesting recipes, but inaccurate.
This book has some good recipes, but I question the accuracy of some of the calorie ratings. For example the "caramelized pear and swiss omelet" recipe has a grand total of 121 calories, yet contains 3 eggs, which individually would have calorie ratings of at least 60 calories. Also "guilty pleasures' section has 1 quorn sausage as having 45 calories, it's actually 70 calories, unless you mean a cocktail sausage which is 33 calories. It might mean a mini sausage roll, but to be honest, I'd be checking the calorie levels yourself, and take the listings with a pinch of salt.

Black and White photos
I didn't realise all the photos in the book would be in black and white - I find colour photos much more engaging. Apart from this the book arrived quickly and was well packaged. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet.

Very practical
This book has easy to follow recipes with ingredients you can easily find around the house. The pictures are great and the fact that the prep time/cook time are listed helps a lot. Highly recommended.

As a possible candidate for the 5:2 diet I was interested to see what you could cook with so few calories. This book gave me more insight and confirmed that I could follow the 5:2 plan. Here goes!!

Excellent
This book was an easy read with some tantalizing but realistic, economic recipes. Recommend to anyone who wants introduction to 5:2 eating plan.

Not worth buying if you like to cook
The diet is fine but it's far better to make up your own low calorie recipes than use these - OK for people who can't or won't cook but useless to those who do.

Should have realised. You get what you pay for. Probably value for money but limited in scope.

A great publication to boost this great way of eating
Got this for my wife who was already well into her 5:2 diet regime. Now I'm enjoying it with her too and feeling the benefits of it.Coupled with and adapting meals from my other book (20 minute Express Recipes for Busy People) we are now enjoying our food again without sacrificing taste, money or health.
