It should work on Red Cedar. Just do it in a well ventilated area

Q: Does this pen sell additional tips separately? I find some of the tips are not meeting the needs I want to use it for and causing inconsistent burns.

Q: Is this all i need to start carving into a wooden walnut canvis?

This is NOT any of the necessary items to start carving wood.This is sufficient to get started with pyrography / wood burning into wood. Do keep in mind that it lacks any sort of temperature adjustment for pyrography. As a first timer kit or for simple projects (bold dark lettering outlines etc) it is acceptable.
