The illustrations are all grotesque variations of the one on the cover. Taken as a whole the book is over the top and, in my opinion, unsuitable for children and simply distressing for adults. I know the fairy tale is dark, but it has been illustrated by many fine illustrators over the years who have been sufficiently gifted as artists to produce illustrations that, while engaging the darkness of the story, have nevertheless provided pictures suitable for young readers and of some aesthetic interest for adults. For some reason I had hoped for a variety of pictures in the interior, not a series of escalating and miserable repetitions, each one screaming louder than its predecessor.

This graphic novel written in Spanish is terrific for my Spanish 2 classes. They love the illustrations and the graphic style of this book really turns my kids on and helps them make good guesses at the vocabulary when they are struggling. They are familiar with the story so they can feel good about their translations and their ability to read in the target language. I would recommend this piece to anyone wanting to learn to read Spanish or for use in the Spanish classroom at the high school level. It creates great excitement and interest. I didn't receive this book at a discount to write this review, and these opinions are my own.

I'm a Spanish teacher and I bought this book for my Spanish library at school. The students in my classes have independent reading for ten minutes twice a week and get to pick books from my library to read. They were drawn to the illustrations in these books and really seemed to enjoy them.

Muy bueno! We are taking Spanish in school and bought this book for the artwork. It lived up to our expectations.
