Great Purifier
I have used this product for some time now and run it daily. Filters seems to last a long time and the purifier does a good job at cleaning out impure air within my room. It will light up and let you know the quality of air around you which is nice!

Really Satisfied with the Coway Airmega Purifier
I first used this air purifier in my child’s room. My child has seasonal allergies, and after using this air purifier, the allergy symptoms definitely improved, and the air in the room feels fresher. I liked the Coway airmega purifier so much that I replaced the previous one in the living room with a Coway model. Since then, the air quality in the entire house has improved. One of the best features is Eco Mode. When we’re out or when there’s no one home, I leave it running in Eco Mode, and it keeps the air quality great all day without wasting energy. After a day out, I come home to fresh, clean air. I’m really happy with the results. Replacing the filter is easy, and the noise is minimal, so it doesn’t disturb me even in the living room. I highly recommend this air purifier for anyone sensitive to allergies or dust! It’s not only great in performance, but the design is sleek and fits well with the decor of the house

Buy this!
This product is definitely worth the money. It keeps the air in my home so clean, it is truly exceeding my expectations. As the weather shifted into spring, the pollen has been a bugger but step into my home and my surfaces are pollen free and nearly dust free. I had a bit of a musty smell in one of my closets and set this up in there and within a matter of a few hours, the smell was completely gone and has stayed gone. It is easy to use, built well and makes little to no noise (except when turned to the highest setting which I only use when frying something). Being that it is pretty compact and very lightweight, It is easy to move around the house. I would definitely purchase this product again.

New filter smell is noxious
I’m lucky enough to walk through my urban environment without any chemical or scent sensitivities. But the HEPA filter in these Coway units are so chemical smelling that I immediately get a headache and nausea from them. It takes a long time of running the unit for the scent to dissipate. The Wirecutter review mentions this horrible, caustic scent but says it’s a resolved problem. It is not. Coway even mentions it in their FAQ. They know it’s a problem. I emailed and asked for a replacement filter because of Wirecutter’s assertion that it was a thing of the past, so surely I just got an old filter? Coway will not send you a new filter, they just tell you to run it in a room with a window open (so if it’s the middle of winter or the height of summer, you have to wait for spring or fall?). For context: I bought one unit, the one with the grid face, in September 2024, when it was 113°F in Arizona and it came with a toxic off-gassing filter. I left it outside for a week and then braved running it inside until the smell dissipated (obviously, one cannot open a window in Arizona in the summer, it doesn’t go below 100°F at any point in the day or night for many months at a time). It was a long 5 days of putting up with that smell. I ordered another unit in October, this time the other style that looks like an iPod shuffle face. Again, the filter smells noxious, and gives me a headache. Upshot: I will not be buying replacement filters directly from Coway, luckily there are lots of third-party offerings out there. Coway KNOWS this is a problem and doesn’t seem interested in solving it, despite making a product promising to make your environment less, not more, unhealthy. Wirecutter has dropped the ball by suggesting it’s no longer an issue. If, like me, you don’t have a million spare rooms to run an off-gassing air polluter behind a closed door with a window open until it converts to an air-cleaner, I’d strongly suggest purchasing from another brand. Update: I got another Coway Airmega. I wanted one for my bedroom. I’m jealous of the people who seem to be getting filters without the smell problem, because it happened again with this unit. It smells like you’ve walked into a cheap carpet warehouse where they also happen to be storing slightly burned sneakers. I’ve never experienced that with the HEPA filters for my AC or any of my vacuums, it’s a Coway specific thing. It’s also mentioned in many reviews if you search here. It’s bad and it lasts for days, over 7 days for the smell to lessen this time. Once that’s over and you’ve just gone ahead and breathed in all those noxious fumes, the unit works great! The auto function is awesome, it really reacts to things that kick up dust, like if I shake out the pet bed or scoop cat litter, sending the unit into high mode for a few seconds in response. When it’s on speed one, which it is most of the time on auto-mode, it’s almost completely silent. I like that I can turn off the large blue air quality indicator light, but why in the world don’t the two green lights that indicate speed also turn off with it? The unit is pretty far from my bed so it doesn’t bother me at night, but they are really bright. I’ll get my replacement filters from someone else, because I’m not going through that awful sick feeling of off-gassing the Coway brand filters again, but I do like the units and how they function a lot.

Pleasant fan noise, low-pitch. Effective air filtration.
This air purifier has an excellent sound profile. At the middle 2 setting, it makes a gentle low-pitch whooshing noise, which is basically perfect for the volume of air it's pushing. I would go so far to say it's a pleasing sound in a bedroom or an office. At the low 1 setting, it's essentially silent from 4 feet away. By comparison, my evaporative humidifier is considerably louder at its middle setting. Most air purifiers in this price range and size class perform similarly because they use HEPA filters and have similar airflow rates. Thus, I believe the sound of the purifier becomes the most important differentiating feature. The sound of the thing is what you're actually dealing with everyday. Before this, I owned the Blueair 311i Max, and its fan noise at the medium setting was higher pitched and thus more annoying than the Coway's. In the Blueair, you could hear a pitchy electric motor noise, while that sound is completely absent in the Coway. I'm sensitive to high pitch noises, and I can't hear anything high-pitched from the Coway. I use this air purifier in the simplest way possible. I put it on the 2 setting and leave it untouched. The operation of this product is super simple. Popping out the pre-filter for occasional vacuuming is easy. Highly recommend this air purifier. EDIT: March 2026 update, I've been using this for almost 3 years, and it's still working the same as new with regular filter changes. I've also added air quality monitors to my home, and the room this sits in has measurably better air quality when I'm cooking or when outdoor air quality drops. This air purifier has been performing objectively well in my home.

Better then shark
Was going to buy a shark air purifier until I read the reviews. Someone said this was better than the shark one they bought and it was half the price. It gets the job done and it’s a good price. Ended up buying another.

This air purifier has worked really well for me. It runs quietly, even on higher settings, and I noticed a clear improvement in my allergies after a few days of use. My apartment smells fresh all the time now, and it's been especially helpful during wildfire season—it's handled the smoke better than I expected. The filter indicator is a nice touch, and the build quality feels solid. Definitely one of the more useful things I’ve bought lately.

This is a great air purifier. I did my research and found that the cheap ones don’t last very long, but this one seems like very high quality with great independent third party reviews. Filters last a very long tim and can be found for reasonable prices. We are experiencing extremely high levels of smoke for weeks of the summer due to Forrest fires. This purifier completely removes any hint of smoke from my entire home. My house is 1500 sq/ft, larger than what this is rated for, but it works great. I usually use it on power level 2 and it is a very reasonable volume. Level 3 is loud, but moves a lot of air, so it’s great for when your trying to remove a problem. This has dramatically reduced the build up of dust on surfaces in our home, and reduced my headaches during the Forrest fire season. I’ve told family member about it and they went out and bought one too. I highly recommend it.

If you leave it an auto, it is normally quite quiet, but when it decides that your air is dirty it is like a fairly loud fan. It is quieter than a cheap bathroom fan... The key with these is the filter, it's a fan with a good filter. The auto mode seems to work well, I smoke and when I light up it switches to medium or high mode. I live in "cat pee land" and it doesn't remove the odour, but seems to reduce it. I don't have equipment to tell me if the air is better, but it seems like it is.

I spent an entire day researching air purifiers, and this one seemed to be the best choice between cost, function, size, and noise level. As someone who is sensitive to noise, I am ecstatic that the lowest setting is literally whisper quiet. The middle setting is noticeable but if you have headphones in, or even just a TV on, you won't hear it. The highest setting however is louder and I have to put in earplugs or leave the room. I also appreciate the auto-setting and saw it kick in the other day automatically so I know it actually works (when I first turned it on, it just stayed in the lowest setting on auto, but a week later the auto setting started switching itself) Also my research said that Coway uses the same filter for both this and their other model, so I'm not as worried about getting replacement filters in the future. It doesn't seem like a super proprietary thing you can ONLY get from them.

The Coway Airmega does the job, and by all accounts is good at air filtering. The good: For being a pretty small unit it has seemingly high filtration capacity, and if that's your main concern (pure ability to filter), then its a good option. On top of that, the replacement filter prices are pretty reasonable. The bad: I don't know what kind of AQI monitor it has in it, but if its supposed to monitor PM2.5, it's terrible at it. I immediately turned the sensitivity on this all the way up, and it will still kick in well after another air purifier I own. I wouldn't expect it to reliably kick in / turn up past the lowest setting, before 20 ug/m3 PM2.5. I pretty much rely on external AQI sensors and set the speed on this purifier manually. Maybe the AQI monitor in my unit is faulty, not sure. Other than that, the highest setting is really loud, but I suppose that's to be expected. All-in-all, I think for the price, it's a decent purifier. I have an Alen 45i that I think is better, but that comes in at 2x the price for the purifier and filter replacements, so this purifier is a lot better at filtering air per dollar.
