ASPIRADORA LIBIANA

Really good for carpets
This review pertains to the DC50 Dyson Ball Allergy--the DC 50 is the smaller version of the regular Dyson Ball and this is the "Allergy" version with HEPA filtration. The machine is quite expensive and is mostly made of plastic. The DC50 upright Ball vacuum cleaner is good for small and/or crowded spaces: It's small, light, and turns on a dime. The head with the rotating brush is powered independently of the vacuum motor, turns off when the machine is in the upright position for use as a canister vacuum-cleaner, and the brush can be deactivated any time by pressing a second button adjacent to the on/off switch. So far, despite the large amounts of long hair that I leave around the apartment in clumps, the brush hasn't spooled itself up in hair that will require removal from the brush. (I understand that the Dyson Animal machines are specifically designed for dealing with lots of hair, but I wanted the Allergy machine.) I should mention: The brush is in a transparent head, so that as a result you can see it--if it should ever require cleaning or if it jams or stops rotating, you can see this and switch it off (at the aforementioned switch). The instruction manual describes how to remove the brush and unspool wrapped threads, hair etc.I wanted the allergy machine, because I'm allergic to house-dust. It hasn't disappointed in that respect: Despite living in one of the dustiest old places of my life, after vacuuming one afternoon, I looked at the beams of afternoon sun (usually full of dust motes floating randomly, even if I haven't just vacuumed) and the air was clear! Well done, Dyson! For vacuuming, the machine is light, easy to maneuver, and adjusts to different carpet heights automatically (no leaning over with back problems to struggle with a stiff height-adjustment lever or anything like that). The brush can easily be deactivated for rugs and mats with tassels or edges that are pulled into the rotating brush. The brush doesn't function as well with really deep long piles, and when it is deactivated the cleaner can be a bit resistant to push over the long carpet pile because the vacuum makes a seal with the carpet. This machine is outstanding at cleaning hardwood floors and will remove a thin layer of dust without just sending it into the air. However, something is scratching my new hardwood floors, and I think it is this vacuum--the ball, the runner wheels, or the rotating brush. The vacuum is weak and loses suction if you don't empty the dust-collection canister regularly. A small blockage can completely remove all vacuum power. The "quick-release" hose is awkward to remove, the wand is awkward to extend (mostly because the whole business is rather complicated in how it works although easy to initiate, the design of the tools is strange, and the hose is too short (and I suspect will split easily, as it appears to be very thin)--I cannot reach the tops of the curtain rails. You cannot remove the wand from the end of the hose either--it can be really useful to have a tool attached directly to the end of a vacuum hose for vacuuming in angles and tight corners. One good aspect to the hose system--for once, the tools actually have locks--they are not just friction fit like most vacuums nowadays. The instruction manual is strange--most of it is minimalist and described assembly (quite simple, brief, and requiring no tools), operation, and maintenance in wordless figures/diagrams--I suppose increasingly one manual must cover all countries to cut costs. There is an English description, but it is oddly disassociated with the figures and so difficult to understand (it uses names for various parts, but it is not obvious what those names mean, and there are no names or number labels on the figures to explicate the language). The dust-collection canister easily releases from the machine and empties at the press of a button when the bottom lid opens and the mess falls out into the garbage. Having no bags is really nice. However, emptying seems to produce a cloud of the very dust that I was hoping to avoid in buying an allergy-oriented machine. I think that I'll try to empty it outside directly into the garbage dumpster in future. Perhaps a dust mask would be a good idea? There are TWO filters which require cleaning once per month by rinsing under a cold tap and allowing to dry for 24 hours. They are simple to remove from the machine once you know how and/or are following the instruction manual.Initially, I was very pleased by this purchase but now less so. Any vacuum that scratches hardwood floors cannot be used for those floors, even if it does a good job cleaning them.Really superb for carpets in cramped spaces though.

I love Dyson!
Great little vacuum cleaner with the suction of a full size machine! Weighs about half of full-sized Dyson. Very easy to use and clean. I get these and then give them away to family members who use them for years.

Good vacuum but could use more suction.
I have always wanted a dyson and am so happy I finally bought one. With two cats it is wonderful to have a vacuum to clean up all the fur. The only complaint is have is that the roller seems to get hair (I have long hair) and fur stuck in it and needs to be manually cleaned out regularly. Also I was expecting it to have crazy strong suction since it's a dyson and it really isn't great suction...I mean it cleans what is under the head but doesn't pull fur from around it which is what I was hoping for

do not like
I believe this sweeper is not worth the money. Very small and I do not like it at all. Doesn't even pick up off kitchen floor thats linoleum. Very disappointing not worth the 3 hundred an some dollars I paid.

Headache
I've had this vacuum for several years now and I can truly say that I've never had another vacuum that gave me so much trouble. It's constantly getting clogged and every time I use it, it gets overheated and stops. It takes me several hours to vacuum my house because I have to sit and wait for it to cool down between each room. The bin gets full after vacuuming just half a room. Definitely do not recommend getting this vacuum.

It is a Dyson compact
This thing is great. I just wish I had bought the full sized. The chamber seems to fill up faster than I would have liked. It is not as good on hardwood floor as it is on the carpets. That does not mean it is bad, it just means that on carpet it is King.

Dyson quality in a small footprint!
I wanted a vacuum that would save space but still keep my allergies at bay. This vacuum has done just that. Really like the carbon fiber filaments which allows you to dust your hard floors. The hose is short which was to be expected—look on eBay you can find some after market extension hoses which work. I found one. I love the carbon fiber dusting tool. I don’t have any issues getting the vacuum to click upright and holding. Overall love this compact vacuum!
