durable
I use these doing trail building and maintenance in fairly rough undergrowth. They have stood up well to briers, have been good in wet underbrush and snow, and while they don't look new anymore, they are sound and not functionally impaired in any way. They keep me dry and keep dirt out of my boots when I'm benching trails. I'm quite happy with them.Update:After almost a year and a half I ordered a second pair of these gaiters for only two reasons. First, they were available for a very attractive price that I thought I might not see again, and second, my first pair was a bit larger than I needed. I am still using the first pair three to five days a week for three to five hours each day. They have withstood rough conditions very well and are still as functional as new. I spray them with permethrin. I can't guarantee that the gaiters and the insecticide have protected me, but the only times I have found ticks on myself this summer have been when not wearing the gaiters.

Great for keeping snow out of boot.
I did a lot of comparisions before making my decision to purchase this gaiter. I am a women and purchased the men's gaiter. I don't know why it would matter, this works perfect. This is unique due to the elastic bottom which securely fits your boot, so absolutely no snow can get into your boot. And the hook fits and attaches to my Keen boots perfect. Also, it keeps my a little bit warmer due to wind protection. I haven't used it in the rain. Outdoor resarch makes great products and I am very happy with the purchase. I would recommend this product.

Great gaiters, wish strap was longer
Quality of the gaiters are top notch. I've used them multiple times throughout the winter and have never had an issue with snow getting in. They keep my legs/ankles/feet dry and breath well. I do like the lace hook on the front, really keeps them from riding up. I do think they should have made the strap that goes under the boot longer, though, which is why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. My winter hiking boots have a pretty beefy sole on them, and the strap is BARELY long enough to fit under my boot and still hook in. Plenty long enough for my regular hiking boots, but if you have a thicker sole on your boot you may find the strap isn't long enough.

Great for keeping the snow at bay!
I live in wonderful New England. In the Winter if it isn't raining, then it's probably snowing. And if the weather can't be described by that then it is probably doing both. That being said, shoveling can be a real pain. Whenever I'm out shoveling/snow blowing/I've chipping/etc my pants would always get wet and frozen. Not with these!!! I wish I had found a pair earlier! That slip right over my waterproof hiking boots and the rigid hook fits on to the laces nice and snug. I really like these and they have different sizes to accommodate smaller or larger boots (which is important so that the front rigid gaiter will hook the first laces).Because they keep my legs warmer, dry, look pretty cool, and keep the snow out of my pants while I'm cleaning of my car, and are very affordable, I gave these 5 stars.I hope you found this review helpful!

Buy these with confidence.
I bought these for snowshoeing and they work exactly like they should. I was skeptical of the attached/non-replaceable underfoot straps but they seemed quite durable. Time will tell. I can only imagine that using them for hiking on rocks/rough ground would potentially wear the strap out much quicker than snowshoeing would. I was also concerned about the strap buckles rubbing against the snowshoe straps but they are quite unobtrusive. The design of these gaiters makes them easy to get in and out of and they seal nicely around the footwear. The upper straps/buckles hold shut securely and are also unobtrusive. You essentially forget that you have them on - which is the way it should be. A satisfying purchase. In regards to size - I had purchased a medium pair for my wife and a large pair for me based upon the manufacturer's size chart which is based solely on shoe size. It turns out that the mediums fit me (size 11 shoe) and the larges fit my wife (size 9 shoe) due to her 16" calves. They mediums will not fit someone with 16" calves. They should really size them by calf size and not just shoe size.

XL will not fit beyond 18" circumference calves
haven't needed to wear it yet, but the fit seems tight for what is supposed to be an XL. i'm a chubby 5'10" woman with long legs, and the widest point of my (upper) calves with a pair of jeans is 18" in circumference. it appears that 18" is the largest circumference the XL will fit ("will fit" meaning you can FULLY close the long velcro strip up the shaft going over the shins - see pic). i assume gaiters need to be tight/slim fitting to keep out the snow? the connectors and velcro look good for keeping out snow though the seem is coming loose even though i am only trying them on first time today... it looks easy enough to sew up though. they need to update the sizing chart based on leg length and circumference of calves as they suggest size L because I wear a size 10 shoe. the length is great (just at/under the knee and my inseam is 33"). please note that i never bought/wore gaiters before but i will try to remember to update review when i get a chance to use them.

Great for a fall rifle hunt with wet brush
I purchased these for a deer hunt in the late fall, early winter with hardly any snow on the ground. Yet, the brush was wet with rain. These kept my legs dry below the knee and worked well. The material as noted is different from the top half to the bottom half, but still was dry 100%As others have mentioned, it felt a little tight around the knee area when wearing normally. However, I liked that it wasn't too baggy to catch and hold snow.If you typically use this with one pair of boots, I would put your boots on at home, and with warm hands at home, adjust the heel strap to the perfect fit. Then unvelcro them each time you put them on and off. It is better to fiddle with the clasp with warm hands then when it is wet and muddy.I enjoyed the product, and bought this product because of the Outdoor Research name. I have a few of their items, and they haven't let me down.

excelentes
Excelentes.

Practical velcro closings
Great gaiters, easy to put on and off thanks to the velcro closings. I love how much they cover and that they don't slip.
