FIRST THERE WAS ELVIS --- AND THEN THE WHOLE WORLD EXPLODED! A MUST SEE!
This video follows the meteoric rise of Elvis from a young local performer to a mega superstar and cultural phenomenon. It brings back that magical year of 1956 when everything was safe and cozy with no nuances of grey. After Elvis, there were choices to make: Pat Boone of Elvis. It was not a difficult decision. The change was so fast and explosive that the young star's head was spining and so were ours. One minute we were listening to "How Much is that Doggie in the Window", and the next minute we were listening to "Come on Baby, I Want to Play House with You".You not only get to contemplate the cultural changes, but you also get to hear Elvis in his earliest recordings when his incredible voice was at its finest. Too many of us remember Elvis in his later years when his voice was deteriorating and he made heavy use of back-up singers. I have always admired him because he was able to make changes and extend his career. Yet, I lament the young vocal genius who grew out of poverty in Tupelo and was crushed by fame. Also catch some of his early recordings on YouTube.

A perfect companion to the 2022 Elvis movie!
I first bought this on VHS in the 80s when it was brand new. I’m thrilled to find it available to stream. If you love Baz’ movie, this is the perfect video to fill in the gaps.

Excellent!
Well done & artfully done documentary of Elvis' beginnings as a superstar. A country boy who loves his momma, respects his elders, is passionate about his music, and enjoys entertaining folks. I wish those simple roots could've insolated in from the onslaught of his mega fame which ended up killing him. His gospel music is soul-stirring because it's genuine, He was larger than life, but still the boy from Tupelo/Memphis. Thank you for this account of his breakout year!

So sad....
So sad to watch.... The man had the world by the scrotum. A good amount of material that I had never seen before. I was 15 in 1955. I lived through his era. He was my favorite singer. I danced to his music at the school sock hops and on the Ed McKenzie and Micky Shore teen age dance shows on Detroit TV in the 50's. Those were the days....

King Size Documentary
Elvis was the king of all media. Some might lay claim to the title, yet no one compares to Elvis, even after all these years. This documentary shows videos of him that I had never seen before.Quite amazing since I've been a Elvis fan for over 50 yearsBy far, this country most electric-charged performer of all time. Kudos to to a well made documentary of the king.

Great background to "The King"!
Being an Elvis fan for all my life, it was great to see some of this history placed in a semi-documentary of his early days.

コンサートかと思ったが全く違った
内容はいんですが、私が昔から持っているものがDVDになっただけの物だったのでとても残念でした。英語が分からなくて失敗しました。これからは日本語で説明がある物にします。とても残念です。楽しみにしていたのに。
