Good quality
After reading so many articles about the the benefits of a non-pressurized (bottomess) portafilter and watching videos on the subject, even though I am a bonefide newbie to the "art" of home espresso, I purchased the 51 mm Joytata portafilter to replace the one sold with the DeLonghi Dedica espresso machine (BTW I don't understand, given all the info available everywhere about the superior result you get from the bottomless portafilter, why DeLonghi still sell a "lesser" tool (pressurized double spout portafilter) with their espresso machine. The Joytata portafilter (with basket) is well made, feels substantial and solid. The wooden handle fits well and secure in the hand. And it is pretty. The basket is a tight fit, not easy to put in and get out of the portafilter, but that is necessary so you don't throw the basket with the puck when done. It is very satisfying to watch the crema come out of the basket. Definitely recommend it.

Better than original
The original does not work with my fav coffee "Trung Nguyen" coffee. It blocks the coffee from coming out for some reasonThis solves the problem for EC685. However, I dont get crema anymoreIts high quality. The wooden handle comes loose easily. I solved this by applying a glue called Loctite Blue

Sturdy, but kind of Pricey
I wish there were more options to choose from honestly, but I guess it's fortunate that there are third-party, bottomless 51mm portafilters available at all.For the price of this, I honestly expected a high quality item. It was a little disappointing to find out there are some very sharp metal edges that have to be filed down, or else it will definitely slice your hand/finger. These are located where the two small slots to help remove the basket.Handle:The handle is pretty nice wood, but when it gets damp (when rinsing/cleaning it off), the grain of the wood raises. Would be nice to have a slightly better finish on the handle but this is not a big deal.Portafilter:The portafilter is solid, and seems like good quality. I'm not sure it's its just stainless steel (or has a plating) but don't foresee any issues at all with that part. It's a cast metal part, with a machined groove and screw thread, then the top face is sanded flat and the whole thing gets polished up. Only negative thing to note are the two extremely sharp edges as mentioned before, please be aware and sand/file them down ore remove them carefully.Basket:I did not try to pull a shot with the basket so I cannot comment too much on it (I have a different basket I'm using already). I did notice that it's seems a little loose (does not seal tightly) when the handle is completely turned. The other basket I already had seals much better and is difficult to turn all the way. I was afraid it may have leaked if I tried it. Other than that, it seems to be a decent, middle-of-the road basket that is totally usable. Again, there are somewhat sharp metal burrs around the outside of the flange but not too bad here.Overall, I do like it and think it earns 4 out of 5 stars. I believe it will last a long time judging by the materials and quality. If it had to choose again, I would still buy this one over the other options, I just wish it was a little less expensive.

Drastically improves the quality of espresso
The material is solid quality, and as expected the espresso quality of my cheap De Longhi Dedica 685 is drastically improved with this portafilter. You do need a proper tamper and a doser, otherwise, the coffee can spill from different sites: this indicates the uneven coffee distribution and not the problem with the portafilter. What I don't like: the head is screwed to the wooden holder, it can be detached (for what?) I would rather prefer it to be a single piece. But whatever, still 5 stars.

Might not fit all Espresso machines
Looks good, but the 3 prongs that lock it in place do not fit all machines.(too big) the cup does come out and fits in others, but I have 2 machines and it would noot fit either of them.

Sprays out the top
Water sprays out the top and I'm sure I've fully inserted and locked in place.

Don't return if you think it doesn't fit!
I was going to return this item, but a friend came over told me I was just using it wrong. If you think it spills coffee from the sides of your machine, just try to improve on your coffee making:1. Make sure you don't use more than 15Grams for each serving2. Make sure you distribute the coffee properly with a declamping tool if possible3. Use different temps and/or bar strengthAfter using a couple of times, it never spilled the coffee from the sides like when it did at first when I got it and the coffee really does taste great; don't discourage!
