A little stiffer than you might expect especially compared to rubber
I bought this to restore an antique sewing machine because the motor was too far from the hand wheel for the typical Singer rubber belt. There are YouTube videos of how to join the ends. Make a good 90 degree cut then heat a piece of scrap sheet metal in a vise with a torch. Touch the two ends on each side until they melt and slide off the metal onto each other and hold until the weld cools and binds the ends together. Trim excess melt with razor.

rather than heat the ends and hold them together I found it better to make a wooden piece and use a drill bit to indent the wood. I then used a low wattage soldering iron to melt the ends together. Very good strength.
